Recommend a foundation for mature skin

I am not really a make up person - I am 65 with still gingerish hair but it’s very mellow now compared to the splat orange it used to be. I keep seeing adverts for foundations that automatically readjust to your skin colour.
i get overwhelmed at beauty counters - just need some guidance on where to look. I just want a simple foundation that gives natural coverage and evens things out!

Erborian cc cream is lovely or bb cream for a bit more coverage

notacooldad · 08/10/2026 20:59

Georgio armani but use the primer as well.
Absolutely fabulous and a little goes a long way. Make sure you for a colour match though.

MyManinCaracas · 08/10/2026 21:00

Lisa Eldridge and Chanel Les beiges are both excellent.

Purplecatshopaholic · 08/10/2026 21:01

I second erborian cc cream. Bloody fab

Was going to recommend this too!

Lisa Eldridge skin tint is excellent, as is Erborian cc cream mentioned above.

As very nearly 50 year old, I’m loving Westman Atelier foundation but at £65 I admit it’s probably not right cost wise if you aren’t sure

ithinkthereforeyouarewrong · 08/10/2026 21:49

Another for eborian it looks so much better

Retiringrosie · 08/10/2026 23:48

Thank you all so much

I got sucked in to the hype around the colour changing one, luxe. I was pleasantly surprised at how lovely it is.

Ladyymuck · 09/10/2026 14:50

Not a fan of Victoria Beckham but I like her foundation. It was recommended on here previously.

Wildgoat · 09/10/2026 14:52

Another shout for Victoria Beckham, it is spendy but the best I’ve tried,

DinoDoughnut81 · 09/10/2026 14:56

I've been using the L'Oréal plumping skin tint, it really nice, inexpensive if you are trying things out. I've got a skin tint make up brush from Real techniques to apply it, so easy and looks airbrushed on. I think I would like to try the Lisa Eldridge skin tint next, her makeup is lovely. Think skin tints are the way to go for me.

hamnish · 09/10/2026 15:01

Another vote for the Lisa Eldridge skin tint; it’s so light and fluid, you can’t feel it on, and yet the coverage is surprisingly good, particularly for evening out redness.

Kaftanqween · 09/10/2026 15:11

Yes to lisa Eldridge skin tint. Lisa does undertone so well and her customer service team are second to none. If you send them a pic they’ll help with shade. Similar but with a bit more coverage is the new Dior skin tint. The Dior stick foundation is also fantastic.
key to any foundation/skin tint looking good is excellent skincare. Find yourself a great serum and moisturiser. Beautypie is brilliant.

hamnish · 09/10/2026 15:17

As someone with similar colouring to yours, OP, I’m always a bit wary of ‘colour adjusting’ foundations; they’re rarely pale enough and often skew quite yellow/orangey (cough, Laura Geller, cough). If you don’t need a lot of coverage and just want to even things out, a colour-correcting cream like Rosalique or Dr Jart knocks out redness?

FancyKitten · 09/10/2026 15:27

Sculpted by Aimee have just reformulated their Second Skin. It’s really nice! I have the Cream Cushion, and Tint & Glow as well. Their foundations are made in Korea, not heavy at all. I was surprised how much Sculpted suits my skin, at 50. Really rate her stuff.

JaneJeffer · 09/10/2026 15:31

Sculpted by Aimee is lovely and comes in loads of shades. I’m not sure if you can get it in the U.K.

They have a shop in Carnaby St, but it’s available online & in Boots I think. And in department stores? I just think for the price point it’s good. I have the Armani one as well. Haven’t tried the Erborian CC Cream yet…

JacknDiane · 10/10/2026 10:10

You can get a smaller travel sized tube of erborian cc cream if you want to try it out

ageingdisgracefully · 10/10/2026 11:01

I bought a Smooche colour-changing foundation (sucker that I am) and surprise, surprise..it actually works!

Also bought one called Blur it Out which is my current favourite. Can't remember the make though.

Edit: Blur it Out is by Rimmel (and cheap).
