Immune to All Forms of Hair Removal

In the last couple of months or so I’ve noticed that razors have completely stopped working. They do not remove any hairs from any part of my body. I’ve tried every type, cheapy disposables to your posher types. I’ve then attempted hair removal cream for ‘tough hair.’ Tells you to not leave it on longer than 6 minutes - 12 minutes later NOTHING. Today, I had a home hard waxing kit delivered - doesn’t work! I’ve even tried it on my husband to check it wasn’t my technique and his leg is now smooth as a baby’s bum.

Has anyone else experienced this? I am probably perimenopausal, have very dark thick hair, but this has never been a problem before. Have I suddenly evolved x-man style Teflon hair in light of the forthcoming nuclear winter? Should I join the circus? Any advice welcome!

Weird that a razor doesn't remove it

Explain what happens when you run a razor through it? How can it not cut?

RemoteControlHeron · 01/10/2026 21:42

I run a razor over it and no hair comes off at all. It’s really weird.

Have you taken the plastic cover thing off the blade?

Have you considered IPL?

How can a razor not cut hair?

I don't understand how a razor or waxing cannot work?

Have you tried to exfoliate your skin?

TinyBlueDent · 01/10/2026 23:13

Tweezers. Time-consuming but with the right technique you can remove hair from the root.

Have you tried an electric razor?

HScully · Yesterday 16:29

Are you using it against the direction of the hair??? it sounds bizarre

Lench · Yesterday 20:01

I once had scissors that didn’t cut wrapping paper. It’s a very challenging situation

Do you have a lot of ingrown hair? There is no way human hair exists that cannot be cut by a razor blade if it's not buried underneath the skin.

That’s not physically possible- for a razor to not cut hair.
