Can I apply a home dye over hair with some hair mousse on it?

I really can't be ringed to wash my hair and dry it and leave it frizzy all day tomorrow just to dye it- can I put the dye straight on?

I've done it before on hair with wax in it. brush your hair and it should be okay.
