Trippen shoes- reviews/opinions!

Due to an unfortunate combination of plantar fasciitis, posterior tibial tendonitis and insertional Achilles tendonitis I need to get some good day to day shoes. While I rehab. Don’t want to wear trainers all the time. I quite like ugly shoes but can’t bring myself to wear Hotter/Echo. Don’t find Fitflops that comfortable.

I’ve come across Trippen which seem to be an interesting mix of orthopaedic and avant garde which might fit the bill. Any reviews on quality, comfort etc appreciated!

I've just had a look at Trippen out of interest . In what way are they orthopaedic? Or do they just look orthopaedic to you?
I have had bad P.F. and just have personalised insoles that I can put into most shoes/boots. Some of those Trippen boots look as though they would be fine for that sort of thing.

Oh yes I just think they look a bit orthopaedic and sensible. Was hoping someone could say they were perfect despite them having rubbish feet!

They’re beautiful and expensive and the customer service is very good. They’re comfy. You can choose the type of leather / colour etc and they can be made to order in Germany to your own specification from a wide array of options. I have unfortunately had a couple of pairs where the stitching has come apart at the back but they did have a lot of wear. For comfort I don’t think they vary massively from other rubber soled cheaper options like el naturalista or camper. They do mould to your feet more than most shoes ime so second hand ones are rarely a good option. That said they have a good resale value.

Thanks so much. I’m considering investing in a custom leather alright, they look to be beautiful quality. Are they something a cobbler can repair after a lot of wear?

Trippen offer a repair service, you have to post them away to Germany. The soles iirc are about 60 or 70 euros to replace, stitching is extra etc. There are probs some things that a cobbler could repair but honestly, I wouldn’t bother as it’s just not worth the risk of ruining the shoes .

Thanks very much. Think I will invest. Just need to decide on the style!
