How would you style this dress?

Bare legs and shiny black high heels is my thought?

It's for a party night in November.

If you can handle the chill bare legged, I would consider dark green or maroon heals rather than black.

That looks nice. Is it a strapless mini? If so, I would definitely not say shiny black heels - unless you want to look like an extra from one of those 1980s 'success' movies where all the women are sexy and for sale.

You could wear flat or clumpy shoes with it, but I get that probably isn't the way you're thinking. Green and maroon are good suggestions. I would not make the heels high. Metallics could work, too.

Just found it on Next, where they've styled it with shiny black, strappy, kitten heeled sandals. I do think black was the wrong choice.

see I wouldn’t pick out the colours of the dress I’d probably go for a muted gold strappy sandal something with thin straps and bare legs so doesn’t take away from the dress as it’s great.

Id do no necklace as doesn’t need one and drop earrings again in gold.

All from Next, £26 to £135. Plenty of others - they have a huge selection of red and gold shoes, some silver/pewter, very little green. The ones with the bows would be great, imo, but of course they're the most expensive!

Yep: the reason why the black don't work is that they're making a 'statement' on your feet, and the dress is making a different statement at some distance away. They end up confusing the eye. You need shoes that either echo the dress by picking up a colour or are 'invisible' - light in form and a similar shade to your own legs.

Agree it would be a mistake to have jewellery fighting for attention. If you like to accessorise, maybe think about a sculptural bangle.
