How can I start wearing wide leg trousers with my shape?

Age 63 waist and hips size 18-20 (top half is 16). Have worn leggings and longline tops for the last 15 years. I can only wear elasticated waistbands. Please help me work out where do I start with the wide legged trouser trend?

I'm also pear shaped with wider hips/ smaller top half and honestly I just find that wide leg trousers do not suit me, so I don't really wear them.

I often wear straight leg and on me it gives a similar effect with a fitted top.

Straight leg could be something to try first maybe?

Have you tried on any wide leg trousers to see if you like them?

I wear wide leg trousers but what works for me is not too wide legged (but more than straight) and in a more slouchy fabric so they hang from my hip. Then I wear a shorter, more fitted top to balance the proportions, and trainers like Sambas.

Thank you, I’ll try some straight legs first and see how that goes 🙂

Agree with this. I dont go too wide or too long as I am short legged! So cropped, slightly wide/straight basically. Footwear- birkenstock style sandals, Tevas, trainers.

The M&S wide leg jersey trousers think they cost about £20 suit everyone ! Comfortable as pyjamas but thick enough to look reasonably smart .
Start with a pair of those .
