Beauty products on a budget

I've never really been in to cosmetics or beauty bits as I'm getting older I'm noticing that I need to start taking better care of myself.
I don't have much spare cash to throw at expensive products and I don't have a clue what I'm doing so would appreciate it if anyone had some simple tips for skin and haircare or recommendations of reasonably cheap products that work.

I try to use sun cream everyday and I wash my face morning and evening and shape my eyebrows when I remember but apart from that I don't do much.

I really like these lipbalms. Gives such a pretty wash of colour and doesn't look overdone. sometimes I use lipliner to fill my lips and go over with the balm for a more intense colour. I also like the watermelon one. they're on sale at superdrug

I can also recommend the Aldi tinted moisturiser with SPF 30. I have been using it for 2 years now and am very pleased with it.

Boots have a range of their own it's amazing stuff ! I use Paula's choice products but the azelaic acid I think it's around 38 quid I can get from boots range less than a 10 quid and it's brilliant no difference so if your after good skincare I'd try those it's in pink boxed packaging

Superdrug have some excellent things in their own ranges. Favourite for me is the Vit E range, especially the Hot cloth cleanser and body lotion. Cheap in the first place and often on offer so you can try things to see what works.

The Aldi rose oil is really good. sadly they only have it in occasionally 😕

I don't know what your budget is, but there are some skincare brands that are more affordable and have good products.
My recommendations are Curel, Inkey List, Face Theory, Geek and Gorgeous. Face Theory and Inkey list have regular sales on their website. You can find these on Amazon as well, Curel is reduced quite a lot. They all have some recommendations on their website about building a routine for different needs.

@Thrim would you mind sharing your skin and hair type? I'm in my 50's and have dry curly hair and dry sensitive/reactive skin. One product I wouldn't be without is coconut oil, almond and argan are great too. I use it on my hair and skin, it works out quite economical as you only need a tiny bit.

I'm mid thirties and have oily skin, hair that can be a bit dry and is starting to thin out.

The Garnier bb cream is really good and they have different formulations. It's so easy to use just spread with fingers. Nice coverage and makes the skin look healthy and even.

I’ve tried loads of expensive stuff over a fairly long life so far and keep coming back to Simple skin products - their basic lines, not the tarted up stuff.Easily as good as or better than anything else.

No. 7 City Lights tinted moisturiser is excellent and a tube lasts for ages.

Pretty much any basic shampoo is as good as more expensive brands if you have fairly easy hair.
