What would you wear to an indoor rave in your 40s?

Random, but wondered what people wear or would suggest, to an indoor rave? Never been to an indoor one, imagine something lightweight.
Any suggestions? I am in my 40s

It would be either Jeans and a Nice Top (the staple of my twenties), a satin slip dress with thick black tights if I wanted to recreate my sixth form look, or some sort of combat trouser with Buffalo trainers and a mesh t shirt over a crop top. But that only if it was going to be dark, and I’d probably need to wear a hoody to and from the venue. But in my head I would look as good in it as I did at 19 🤣

I went to one last year and wore a long sleeve short but loose-ish playsuit, fishnet tights (with a packed spare!) and dr martens.
Was perfect as could dance how I wanted with no worries of flashing and was v comfortable.

Shoes that are comfortable for standing up in and dancing!

Definitely NOT jeans you want to keep as cool as possible with all that dancing you'll be doing
I still go out raving occasionally and I'm in my 40's. I wear a lightweight midi/ slip dress usually from Urban Outfitters or similar and the most important thing for me as I'm a bit older is comfy trainers!!! Nike Air Max or Rift at the moment- to protect middle age knees and feet while dancing! Oh and I always have a fan in my bag. Have fun!!!!!!

Good question! I'm going to a Day Fever event in mid December, and wondered if I could dodge this issue of what to wear by wearing some sort of daft Christmas outfit.

Would I look a knob or will others have the same idea?

An actual rave? Baggy tracksuit bottoms and a sweat wicking t shirt. Hair done in space buns or similar to stop it sticking to you.

Raves are dark, sweaty and full and constant dancing. Nobody cares what anyone looks like because it’s mostly about being high as a kite.

To a RAVE? Maybe I went to very different raves but this is what you’d wear to a club or bar not a rave… tights to a rave 😂

Off to drumsheds next weekend - I usually wear Levi’s denim shorts and a plain black tshirt and converse 🤷‍♀️

it gets a big cold in some areas - but I don’t bother with a jacket anyway as don’t want to carry it and the lockers are like 12£ or soemthing crazy

I don’t even bring a bag just my keys in the front pocket - phone in back pocket and that’s it 🤷‍♀️

I dunno, at 16/17 we did go out in slip dresses to a lot of things. I remember waiting in snow once with no coat on, but maybe it was a club rather than a proper rave.

Ive been the last few years and ive worn the following:
2025 - neon green sheer oversized t shirt with a black body suit underneath and black harness belt to add structure.

2026 - sequin dress with a sports bra under (was a backless style but need some support for all the bouncing around 🤣) plus some hotpant style cycling shorts as it was a bit short so didn't matter if it rides up.

Every time worn with black flat chunky boots with thick socks to avoid blisters.

Lots of glitter/neon paint, and hair in braids or space buns as I tell you it gets HOT so you dont want to be wearing your hair down.

My go to as someone who still loves to party at nearly 50, (well I say still loves to, but these days that tends to mean maybe four times a year) is a lightweight jumpsuit and converse - never ever heals, I'm far too old for that nonsense 😂

Black linen joggers, trainers, a random big t-shirt that you have cropped to the waist, glitter.

Na - saturday for Bugged out!

Same as I did as a teenager, loose baggy jeans, Cyber Dog crop top and a pair of Buffalo boots.
