Hi all, can anyone recommend some good trousers for long haul travel - I’m a tall pear shaped with large bum so definitely nothing skinny jeans! Many thanks.

Reiss do some stylish wide leg lightweight trousers. You could go for a stylish co ord, which I don’t seem to get right, but I love a lot of the Reiss trouser range.

I’m 5’9 and have got some wide leg linen mix trousers from m&s that I often fly in. The mix bit means they don’t crease. With a slim vest and chunky cardigan that can be removed on landing, I think it’s a perfect flying outfit. I have to hoik them up over my knees when visiting the plane loo though.

Not wide leg. Slim stretchy trousers or harem trousers. You don't want wide leg trousers in the loo of an aeroplane.

I have some slim stretchy Ninepine trousers that are ideal for travelling.

I love harem trousers for flying. I buy mine from Boden, I’m not sure if they do them in tall but I imagine M&S do. Loose and comfy at the waist but cuffed at the ankle so no danger in the toilets!

I wear a pair of light jersey navy PJ bottoms (cuffed ankles), bought in haute couture Primark. I have never worn a more comfortable item when travelling and they have pockets. I am not as tall as you but I had to cut about six inches off the leg and re hem them, totally worth it. I re attached the cuffs!

I travel cattle class obviously. I'm cheap too, but comfortable!

I suppose what I'm saying is something lightweight, loose, elastic waist works for me, and when you see the proliferation of Halara trousers now, you can see why I'm not alone!

Edited

I have never had any problems, I can hitch up and go to the loo at the same time!

I just wear my comfiest barrel leg jeans. They are soft enough to nap in, and what I'd wear at my destination so I'm minimising the number of clothes items I bring (I never bring a checked bag).

Reiss do amazing wide leg elasticated waist trousers in petite, regular and long. For example:

They feel wonderful on, and can look so smart or be dressed down. I can get comfy on a long flight and still come out looking good (relatively speaking…) as they don’t seem to crease very easily.

like you, I’m pear shape so for long haul travel I would wear these with additional layers for all the temperature changes in the airport and airplane - T-shirt and cashmere jumper.

Thanks all, some good ideas here. I’m not convinced on cuffs at the ankles but will try some on. Wide legs are ok - I have some linen ones that I have to hitch up in public toilets so I’m used to that!
