How can I get this off? Help!

I ordered a top from Asos (Oysho) and it arrived with the anti-theft magnet on. I returned it and repurchased the same exact top, it's just arrived and the damn thing is still attached! Annoying thing is, I REALLY like the top.

Is there a way I can get it off myself? I assume if I return it and order another new one that I'll have the same issue. It's obviously a dodgy batch.

What can I do?

My MIL owns a second hand clothes shop and even she said these things are bastards so I chickened out and ordered direct from Oysho. HOWEVER I found a discount code, so the bastards aren't getting that extra €5 after all. If this third one arrives with a security tag on I may just grab my scissors and make it into a crop top. These are magnetic. You just need a strong magnet. People used to sell the removers on a popular auction site for not a lot of money. I doubt this is the type with ink in but some do contain dye so I’d avoid a hammer. Also if you have proof of purchase just pop into M&S and see if they’ll take pity on you.

Zara left one of those on a winter jacket which I bought and the gates didn't beep at all so I went home with it. I tried to take it off with forks etc but it didn't want to come off. Apparently they sometimes contain ink so I didn't want to push it.

The Zara which I bought it at was quite far away so I went to one closer to me (still a hassle to get there). When I walked in the gates beeped and I explained to the security guy why I came there and showed the receipt. He shouted at me that it's my fault for walking out while gates were beeping (they weren't at the other shop but he didn't believe me). He was angry with me and told me to go back to the same shop where I bought the jacket. I went all the way to the original shop and their gates didn't make a sound. I was so annoyed about how that security guy treated me, I emailed Zara and got a £30 voucher.

Sorry this wasn't very helpful but I never had the opportunity to vent on this situation 😂

Why would you call that retailer ‘bastards’ for not giving you a discount and charging you delivery? As they said it’s not their problem. If I was that keen on an item of clothing I would just pay the asking price and the delivery.

I would've been fine with any recognition of the mistake at all. The shirt is their brand, likely came from their warehouse originally and seemingly a whole batch was sent to ASOS with the security tags on, as I ordered the same top twice, with the same issue. So yes, their fault. As it is, they said it was nothing to do with them in the slightest and essentially told me to bugger off. Thus, bastards!

Hahaha, vent away! I had that too with a Zara jacket, except I didn't notice for YEARS as it was one of those really little ones. One day I went into a shopping centre and was beeping in every single shop, getting stopped by security every time and we were all baffled. Eventually a lady working in Mango said she'd had the same issue and properly searched the jacket, found the tag and removed it. None of us understood why it took years for the security tag to actually do its job, as I'd never beeped before!

I had a problem once with shoes, where they sent me two different sizes, and when I sent them back, I got the other two shoes ie still two wrong sizes. So I sent them a message on X and they sorted it out.

I have a large magnet from an old speaker. Mine is used to pick up all the nails left in the multi stove from burning scrap wood pallets.
