Why is everything on my vinted feed now in America or Australia?!

How do I make it 'UK only' again??

I’ve noticed the same and don’t know how to make it show only UK items. I don’t want to buy from Australia!

Is it because Vinted is new in Oz, so the Australians are uploading lots of items?
It’s driving me mad, although I did sell an item to Australia and the sale went through quickly, and without a hitch, which was a relief.

But the shipping is still like £3

How can they ship an item Aus>UK for £3??

Its annoying having to click on the profile to check location every time.

Postage is long enough with inpost in the UK!

Its because they are now available, and Vinted prioritises showing new sellers items, to give them a few sales and incentivise them to stay and list more.
Shipping/ import tax is currently being subsidised by Vinted. It's taking anywhere from 7 days - 3 weeks for a parcel in my experience, which is amazing really for a £2-4 delivery option.

You can't opt out of seeing them, but you can keep training your algorithm - keep searching for typically British brands, and it'll show you more of them. Also try not to open the items and look, as that tells it you like them- you can generally tell as the price is a random amount.
I find my feed is worse in a morning, as Australians have been listing during their prime time, which is during our evening

Eventually Vinted will have to add a location filter, like Etsy and Ebay.

Otherwise people will get fed up and stop using it.

Is it really ethical to buy a £2 used t-shirt and have it shipped from the other side of the world?! I despair. 😔 They need to allow you to select UK only.

I have bought a couple of items from the US. Some jeans and a bag. It is incredibly cheap with the same postage prices as in the UK. There are some real bargains to be had.

The wait to receive the item is a pain though!

Probably the same reason I always get listings from UK 😊 it happens on eBay too 💕 you should be able to change it to the listing closest to you

I'm in Australia and any postage from US is high it's cheaper to get things from UK to here 😊

I’ve had orders from Australia, what happens is the shipping label is to a U.K. address so what I assume happens is lots of orders are put in one box, sent to Australia and then sorted on the other side.

The cost of sending 1 small item in a big box is probably pennies

I wish there was some way of setting it to UK only too.

I ordered a skirt two weeks ago. I was a bit slow on the uptake when I placed the order and then afterwards realised I'd paid more for the postage than the skirt itself, because it was coming from Australia!!!!!! I messaged the seller and asked if they wanted to cancel, as sending a skirt to the UK from Auz seemed mental. I also wondered what the deal would be with import duty and all of that shit, not to mention how long it would take. It did not seem like a good idea. Fortunately, the seller agreed and we cancelled the order.

As others have said you can spot the items in your feed as they are priced at £21.43 and the like so I just avoid them. I do look for overseas brands eg les copaines but only buy UK. I only buy UK on eBay and Vestiaire ditto.

I assume Vinted are trying to push the us oz sellers whilst it scales but it is annoying. And it def cannot claim circular economy whilst it wants me to have a second hand T-shirt shipped from Oz!!! Totally undermines any green advantages. The added carbon footprint is horrendous!

The only way to do it is search UK brands. You'll still get the annoying sizing issues though.

That's interesting - I haven't bought any items from Australia so do not know if the postage prices are as cheap as from the US. If they are, I will start looking at more Australian items! 🙂

I would just roll with it for now as you might get a bargain. I bought some jeans from Arizona by accident. The shipping cost was the same as UK postage, so I only noticed when they were taking longer than expected to arrive.

I think it’s amazing. I’ve bought a few things from Aus and America via vinted and the shipping was surprisingly fast. The Aus items are quite cheap too. I love having unique pieces - no one from my town is going to be wearing vintage shorts from an Aussie brand lol

I’ve given up on Vinted with the sizing debacle and on hearing this I’m even less likely to return. They’ve taken a great idea and totally buggered it up.

Not really possible as the stuff I am buying is for DD for Xmas, lots of Sanrio, Popmart, My little Pony etc... which is sold universally.

Absolutely need a photo of the label to determine the truth and it never seems to match up with the description

I read a news story about a woman shipping a massive bundle of her own clothes to Oz using vinted and saving herself a fortune on postage 😆

I’m annoyed as I’ve just seen something I have bought is being shipped from the US and I had no idea. Terrible environmentally to ship individual second hand items such long distances. How can it be economically viable either?
