Damage to item sold on Vinted.

I recently sold a highly desirable vintage top on Vinted. It had loads of likes and several offers. I accepted one offer after answering a lot of questions and giving a pretty good discount. It has now been delivered and the buyer wants a partial refund because it has a hole. It certainly didn’t have this hole when I sold it ( evident from the photos). I won’t be giving any partial refund and at best will offer a return (at their cost). But the item now has a hole and isn’t worth as much. Pathetic I know but I feel really upset by this. It was a beloved top from my youth. There doesn’t seem to be any way of raising the damage with Vinted? Is there anything I can do?

it could be a scam, I’ve seen AI pictures of damage being used to try and get a refund. Vinted do tend to side with the buyer though with these issues unless you have absolute proof

The hole isn’t visible on the photos I used for the listing. Not sure vinted will care about that though. I am a terrible clothes hoarder and am slowly working through my ‘archive’, listing on Vinted and just happy to that my lovely old clothes are going to a good home. I should have kept this one, but I really don’t want it back with a hole!

No advice for this, but for future. I was thinking of selling on vinted and asked a friend who said you basically video everything. Video the item, packing it and posting it. To use as proof in cases like this.
I've only ever sold on eBay which feels a bit safer to me after hearing about problems with vinted.

Shitty trick and pointless. I had similar with a pair of Ugg biker boots. They said a branded insole was missing. It so wasnt. Ended up giving them to the chazza- who sold them for twice what I sold them for.

I had this exact thing happen. I sold a skirt and next thing you know the buyer said it was damaged and uploaded some photos. I knew it was in perfect condition when I posted it so I wrote to Vinted support and send the photos I took with the meta data. I didn’t respond to the buyer at all They had to have used AI. Anyway the support were actually great and wrote to the buyer asking for clearer photos and surprise surprise they didn’t send them so I got paid!!

Thanks all. I have given them a small refund and they have accepted. I put their photo though an ai checker which said 60% chance of ai. Wish I’d contacted support as you did @BananaPeels. I’ve generally had really good experiences with vinted both selling and buying, but this has really annoyed me.

I had a similar problem on ebay, sold new without tags pleather legging, i have only tried them on, after having them for a week, the buyer sent me a message asking to return as been worn and washed, I got intouch with ebay and explained that they haven't been worn by me, I expect she worn them that week and decided she didn't want them , they did side with me, she did get to keep them, but they refunded her, themselves, so I kept the money from the sale, saying as I've been with a long time with no other problems I am a good seller,

That's the thing. If they see years worth of activity, no issues, they are more likely to side with you than a newbie.

Buyer has now given me a 2 star review. Very annoying!
