Coats, where are all the good ones?

I’ve been looking for a few years now for a lovely funnel neck coat, finally it seems they’re en vogue but I don’t want a typical high street version unless it’s really well made.

So far I’ve discounted any with belts, they look like bathrobes and although I’m 5ft 8 I have a short body so they look awful
on me.

Don’t like the super tailored or the very shapeless. I want something I can wear layers under, keeps me warm and looks nice.

Quite like this one but again not much shape. Has anyone found a lovely coat that fits the bill?

To add camel is not my colour.

The 1990s. Check eBay or Vinted for Hobbs, St Michael, Jaeger, Max Mara.

Just sent all my 10year+ coats for dry cleaning this week as all the styles are crap these days!! Either no shape or puffed out to look like Michelin Man!!

Get one custom made?

I have an old one from Mango. It has a belt but I tie it behind me which could open up more options?

A chance find two year's ago, dark navy blue funnel neck, in M&S, 40% wool, bought in their sale. May be one on Vinted, a very similar style to that shown

I’d love a custom made but where do you find someone who is very good, if I were going that route I’d want a small independent rather than your typical London Saville Row etc.

Had a look on Vince’s, so far nothing I like. There’s one on the Cos website I quite like but it’s black. the search continues!

There were some Reiss ones posted in a thread a few days ago that looked good, and I think Whistles too? Might be worth a look
