I want some Merry People boots

Will I regret it? Does anyone have them? I walk my dog daily and love my cheap short wellies, but they’ve just split. Rather than buying another £30 pair, is it silly to buy Merry People ones? And if I do, which colourway and style please?

I just looked online for the weight - 1.2-1.4 pounds each boot apparently, more for the Tully. In comparison, my waterproof hillwalking shoes weigh 800g each - and yes, I did just weigh my boot and yes, it is a slow day in the Chen household.

I'd never heard of this brand and googled expecting some kind of Merrie Olde England style booties. But these are cute, and would serve me well in the upcoming Glaswegian winter. To buy or not to buy...🤔

A reddit thread has now de-influenced me. It's for the best!

I thought of this thread just now as I was walking my dogs and got chatting to a young woman because she loved my boots!

I am on my 2nd pair and have walked miles and miles in the bad weather with them. They are brilliant

Do tell!

I have the navy blue ones. They feel very robust and sturdy, expect them to last many years.

Jerrybalanitis · 12/09/2026 14:09

I looked them up, just when you think there's nothing left to innovate, these beautiful objects enter the world! How did i not know about these before now? I don't even know what magic they hold, but I immediately got that OMG I neeeeed these shoes or I will die feeling.

Mine are really comfy. I’m surprised about people saying their feet get cold.. I find them really cosy, they’re neoprene inside, not like a normal welly.

I do only wear them for relatively short time periods though to do gardening in.. I don’t have a dog to walk.

I would say they are sturdy and inflexible like a welly though.. I was influenced into thinking I would wear them as winter boot all the time… but they are a (very comfy) welly.

emptythebin · 12/09/2026 15:40

Are they slippery at all?

Pippatpip · 12/09/2026 15:49

I love mine. Easy to walk in and i can drive in them. Worth the money.

30birthdaygirl · 12/09/2026 15:53

I love mine and I want more!

hattie43 · 12/09/2026 16:02

I’ve got two pairs and despite going a half size up they’re really tight . They are nice though

coconuthandcream · 12/09/2026 16:22

They are amazing ! Got a pair last winter for dog walking. So very comfortable and supportive unlike some wellies.

They have good grip. Before I had them I had hunter ankle wellies which were very slippy and I sold on vinted (for that reason) and then bought the Merry People ones.

Please tell me which colour to buy - I’m struck by too many choices…
