Basic make-up routine and budget products for skin in my forties

Im turning 42. Never really worn much make up, usually foundation, blush, mascara and lip balm. As I've got older I notice the foundation doesnt work as well on ageing skin. I am currently on maternity leave with 3rd child and want to feel more put together but feel lost where to start!

Can anyone recommend a basic makeup routine and products that work well but done break the bank?

I mix my foundation with a very few drops of oil so it doesn’t go in the creases. It’s made such a difference.

Then I use a cream blusher on the apples of my cheeks.

And a matt lipstick that sort of stains my lips so it’s just on and stays on but I don’t feel it’s on.
