Casual trainers / shoes for this El Niño AW

El Niño wind and rain has thoroughly begun where I am today, making me convinced that the ballet flats, sneakerinas and suede loafer trend just ain’t going to work for me this Autumn.

My style is perma-casual due to my work, and my outfits are usually oversized shirts with barrel leg or wide leg jeans with trainers, but I need some new shoes for Autumn.

Can anyone suggest shoes or trainers that will be a go-to for me please?

my outerwear rotates between:
navy quilted jacket
charcoal funnel neck wool jacket
forest green Barbour - in the contemporary style

I used to wear Veja Venturi which were sooo comfy but that was before barrel jeans and I’m not sure if they go together? Does anyone know?

Thank you!

Trainers are the worst in heavy rain or the post rain splashy pavements. They just soak up water really quickly then hold it against your feet. I just bought some gorgeous black Timberland ankle boots, would something like that work with your style? Otherwise some stylish ankle wellies?

Would you wear something like Vans or Converse if you have to be casual? Proper rubber sole and lots of colour options.

They go from trendy to very neutral, too.

I can see Veja working as well, I work in fashion and lots of people who have to be more casual wear the V with a wide variety of trousers. I’d say it’s a pretty classic combo with barrel jeans.

Oh yes second Timberland boots too if goes with your styling, you mention Barbour so I don’t see why not.

They do a wider variety of quite robust footwear these days too, not just boots

I love brogues with almost everything.
