Just a girl, looking for a decent bra

Hello! I’m sure this has been asked before, but I can’t find a thread that hits quite what I need.

After years of breastfeeding-friendly bras (I’ve been a big fan of Molke, and have loved how good they make my clothes look), I now need (want!) normal bras again. As much as Molke has served me well for years, I want something a teensy bit sexier. Plus I want to wear tops with thin straps again.

But oh my god, I can’t seem to find something that’s just decent and isn’t minimising, isn’t plunge, isn’t padded / specially non-padded, isn’t balconette, etc etc etc.

I guess I do have some requirements - it needs to still make my clothes look ok on top. I’m ok with wires if it’s still comfy. And I would be 34G/H, so things like wider straps can help a bit (everyone seems to recommend the Triumph Doreen, but it looks like a minimiser bra that pushes breasts apart).

It feels like the holy grail, but all I want is a decent, basic bra!

I’m 36G and the Primadonna Madison is my go to. It’s the only one I wear now. Expensive but so supportive and comfortable. It’s a real step up from the brands Bravissimo sells.

Triumph amourette, really nice support and shape but so comfy you forget you're wearing it; good range of colours too.

Hi @OrangeLane try the Panache envy bras. Available in full cup (excellent) or a balconette (not my preferred choice). They wash well and at c£35 are pretty good value for a large cup bra. I’d also recommend the Primadonna Deauville but they are more expensive.

I can't advise on a bra, but i can advise on getting a bra fitting with a decent fitter.

I'm not talking chain store assistants, but someone who is specialised and can advise on all the things you want in your bras with your post feeding body.

It was a game changer for me. £20 to be fitted on a range of bras. I'm sure there's someone in your area offering this service.

Agreed although fitting should be free. Rigby and Peller revolutionised my life when I realised I was a 32 F rather than the 36C I’d been wearing after my M and S fitting. Once you’ve worn a properly fitted bra you don’t go back.

I went to a woman who has a bra studio in her garden office. The bonus i found with her is that she had a range of brands rather than just be stuck with one. She was happy to buy in a size that you were keen on if she didn't have it in stock, and invite you back for a free second fitting to see if any of those new ones were a decent fit/appealing. Never an obligation to buy. She just wants women to be happy with their boobs.

Fantasie Fusion is a great everyday bra, usually comes in a new colour each season as well as the basics. Also Fantasie Envisage is a good everyday shape. Both full cup "normal" shape, no padding, smooth under clothes.

I am a big fan of Panache, Freya and Fantasie. But I agree the best thing is to go to an independent fitter. I too went to someone who operates from a garden studio and she advised on the best styles for my shape/size. If you don’t have an independent near you Bravissimo might be worth a try.

Yes to panache envy! The Envy I like is described as plunge, in reality I'd say it's between plunge and balconette. Gives a good shape under everything, and is so supportive (the really wide wide band takes all the weight). The band felt too tight at first so I wore an extender for the first 5 or so wears but now it fits like a dream.

I don’t think anyone on here can recommend a bra for you as we don’t know your breast shape and also it’s likely to have changed since breast feeding. E.g after BF I have long boobs with nothing on top. A balconette bra is my preferred style. Go to a decent fitter for advice

I’m a 30GG and I find Panache Clara bras fit really well. The GG bras have 3 hooks at the back instead of the usual 2 and the straps are somewhat wider. They’re really supportive, attractive and give a lovely shape.

I think you need to go to your nearest bravissimo and try some on.

My go-to for comfort and fit is the St Tropez from Pour Moi. Comes in plain black, white and beige for everyday wear and a range of mixed colours for if you feel like wearing something to show it off!
