Best waterproof clothing for the school run?

What do you recommend? I don’t have any waterproof clothing and the rain today has made me realise I’m going to need at least a coat or jacket when school goes back!

Yes, I’ve lost 8st since last winter so nothing fits me and I have more options now as I’m not restricted to plus size clothing.

I have waterproof trainers from on running and a waterproof raincoat from seasalt for the school run, plus a golf umbrella. Both totally waterproof!

not sure there is any need for the awful comments. This is style and beauty it is a frequently asked question and I have never seen so many snarky replies.

OP is advice for a stylish waterproof or similar coat for the inclement weather that is likely to start soon.

illes Jacobson, rains, and protected species are waterproof and stylish and urban. I have a Didrikson that is really nice too. There are lots of brands that are note country or walking to sporty.

At the lower end of the budget the best ones are regatta and they do some nice everyday waterproofs and the orla kirely ra he is ice if you like patterns.

seasalt is pretty decent but expensive new but check Vinted

I’m asking what people wear on the school run, when there are many practical considerations. Also, there are differences in durability, performance and quality, which is why I’m asking for recommendations. There’s no need to be unpleasant about it.

Have you had any clothing items from Rains? I ordered a bag once and I was worried the rubberised material wouldn’t clean or hold up well so I returned it. I think the jackets are made of the same material.

Pockets with zips are handy on the school run so that you don’t have to take a bag. And definitely something with a hood in case you can’t carry an umbrella! Knee length ideally and thin so you can layer up underneath as needed.

I got my raincoat from Boden a couple of years ago and it is brilliant - plain navy with some neon detailing.

Those are all good points. I ordered the Dryrobe Waterproof Poncho earlier today as I thought it would be good to layer over whatever I’m wearing and it has a hood and a zip pocket, but I want to have at a few other options in case I don’t like it when it arrives. I’ll take a look at Boden ☺️

The only issue I have was some of the buttons got a bit loose, it's a green trench. But I sewed them tighter and it looks as good as I when I bought it a few years ago.

Outdoor shops are a good bet for proper waterproof. Perhaps not stylish.
You need knee length and fully waterproof.
Didricksons are very good but pricey. But there is always vinted once tried on.
M&s had good options last year and I got 20% off. But probably too early in season.

My husband does the school runs rather than me
He has waterproof sketchers
A waterproof coat tog24- they have some nice ladies knee length waterproof coats (I hate something that doesn't cover my bottom and they don't cost a fortune)...
Some waterproof trousers- since it's not on a bus route and a mile there and back both child and him have waterproof trousers if it's the rain we had this week. Might not be fancy- but keeps them dry

Whatever coat/ hood combination you have, make sure you have a baseball cap under your hood. Nothing more annoying than rain in your face (x100 for anyone who wears glasses).
Good idea to plan ahead - it always rains between 3 and 4pm!
