Can I pull this dress off in my 40s? Am very tempted to get it (for Christmas parties / nights out)

Should I buy this dress?

Yes! 40 and fabulous

Sorry I don’t like it. It’s very y2k Kookai.

Brendayouknowthatyouremuchtoolazy · Yesterday 10:04

"Y2K Kookai" 😁
It's a no from me. It's too lopsided and it's giving that slim woman Russian shot putter vibes. Plus weird length.

momager22 · Yesterday 10:10

Someone 50 might looks great in it and someone 20 might look terrible. Age has nothing to do with it imo.
fwiw I hate the way it’s been styled with the boots on the website. I’d at least wear normal heels with it.

Banjas · Yesterday 10:10

If you are tall and slim, yes.
Short and slim, yes. But you would have to lose a lot off the hem.
Short and dumpy ? No !

PetulaGordeno · Yesterday 10:44

At 40 I could have worn it.
Now I’d look like an overstuffed matte black bin bag with a rip in it.
I know we should all be body confident but I think this is one for the svelte people as it’s unforgiving.
The boots are awful. A heel would be great.
But styled differently I think this could look fabulous! If you like it but it!

MarthaLovesLaughing · Yesterday 10:48

Are you tall and slim? Do you mind the style being a bit last decade? If yes and then no.....buy it

StasisMom · Yesterday 10:55

I’m 50 and would wear it.

MaggieBsBoat · Yesterday 11:15

Age has nothing to do with it but size does. If you are very slim then I’d go for it.

ThatWriterInTheCorner · Yesterday 11:36

That image looks like AI to me, so I would be concerned about how accurate it is. Is it from a retailer you trust? If not I'd be worried about the quality.

TheCheeryPoet · Yesterday 12:06

Thanks for all your comments! lol at the y2k kookai comment! 🤣 I think that’s why I like it. The dress is by All Saints. I’ve bought a few things from them over the years which have been good. I’m 5ft 7 and slightly overweight but have lost 2 stone over the last year. I’ve just sent off for it so if it looks crap I’ll just send it back. I would definitely wear heels with it, not boots

I don’t like it but see no reason not to buy it if you love it.
