I bought a couple of dresses like this one in the Next sale, for end of the summer and next year. However I never wear anything like this. I am early
thirties, mum of 2 toddlers. It hides my mum tum whilst keeping my dignity running after the kids. Other women look great in this sort of style. However I just couldn’t leave the house in it. I am so used to leggings and dark oversized tops/jumpers since being pregnant. I need a push to step out of my comfort zone! I see other women wearing dresses like these and looking fantastic. Even wearing jeans I don’t feel comfortable as feel they highlight the tummy. Any advice or tips to get out of leggings! Im a size 10/12, 5’4”

If you actually want to wear the dress, you just have to do it. You will feel a bit strange for a day or two, then you'll get used to it

That is a totally unremarkable dress by the way. No one will bat an eyelid if you wear it

Get yourself a cropped bomber jacket to wear over it. Suede or leather would be ideal, but cotton would be fine too.

Plenty here:

Agree that it is the most bog standard dress (not in a mean way, it's nice, just nothing for anyone to take notice of and judge) you could find.

Just get used to wearing it. Try wearing it indoors first, then wear it out somewhere where you're not planning on meeting anyone you know (supermarket or dr's surgery or whatever). Then progress to with people you know well and feel the most comfortable with - meeting up with your mum, going round your best friend's house, your partner if you ever do date night. After that you should be comfortable enough to wear it anywhere!
