Best dress styles to wear with Dr Martens?

I usually wear my Docs with a short skirt and tights but would like to wear them with dresses too this autumn/winter - any suggestions as to the best style? If it's relevant, I'm mid 50s and short.

I love a pinafore over a stripy t-shirt with DM boots and thick tights. I’m not usually a White Stuff shopper but they often have nice ones.

Any dress! Any dress except a knee-length fitted style, that is. You could - and some women would style it out perfectly - but nobody needs to wear a dress like that while there are so many options.

Best bets, imo, are full skirts of any length, short or ankle-length for straight skirts.

I agree with @GarlicAnything, I wear them exclusively in autumn and winter, some spring, with midi dresses and skirts.

i wear mine with almost anything! My either dresses are mostly cord shirt dresses.

I wear mine with everything - mainly midi dresses (like the ones above), but also cropped palazzo jeans and cropped trousers.

I wore a lovely long chiffony dress, with balloon sleeves, from Albaray today. I bought on vinted very cheaply. I thought that it would look good with my burgundy doc martin shoes. It was very loose fitting, though, did have to wear a belt. Sorry I don't have a pic.

They are one of the few items that you can wear with just about anything, even a cocktail dress.

I tend to prefer them with a slightly more voluminous dress but as above, pretty much anything midi or longer works. Whilst I agree that most disturbia dresses are very dm vibe, the quality of their clothes is pretty crap so it depends how long lasting you like your clothes to be!

A denim dress would work

I told my daighter when she was 12 and I bought her her first pair of docs that there was no dress that couldn't be improved with a pair of docs.

She disappeared upstairs for half an hour and then came back to tell me I was right 😁

I wear mosty fit and flair thigh length black and floral dresses with mine. Or long maxi dresses.

They work well. Also in my 50s.

I've had some great stuff from Disturbia, too.

Any dress! I still have the lace and chiffon pale grey dress I bought from Bon Marche several years ago, I used to wear that with Docs when I still had some, and a denim jacket and spiky dog collar. 😁

Not to detract the thread - but what is disturbias sizing like compared to other brands? I’ve been eying up a dress on there for a while but unsure what size to go for!

I'm generally a size 12 in most places and have found size 12 fits well.

I wear mine with mini pinafores, mini kilts, midi skirts, Toast/Plumo style dresses.
(mini as in above the knee not flashing my knickers, and with opaque tights).
