I much prefer the black one, if you can afford the expensive one and would get to wear it a few times, so for it you will regret it otherwise.

OK the answer is this, if you will spend the £800 on something else that you want more, do that, whether it be a weekend away or grocery shopping you cannot do without.

I have these shoes and kind of think they deserve the Derek Lam dress.

expensive one is lovely but overpriced for what it is and I have bought a fair few silly priced things in my time so not coming at it from a tightwad angle just it looks very fashiony to be so expensive

Don't get the cheap one even if you can't get the other one The shoes are too nice for the dress which in rl probably looks quite cheap (sorry)

if it's the pale grey silk and ruffles that you like about the expensive one, then why not go for something a bit more affordable, like this French Connection one?
