Vinted not as described (pro seller) but I actually like what I got

I bought a pair of shoes on vinted. Professional seller, bnwt. I paid more than I usually do on Vinted as they were labelled as leather. They have arrived (wrapped well, but not in a box) and I really like them but they are leatherette, not leather. I've messaged the seller and they replied that they have sold at least 15 pairs the same without anyone complaining and that the shoes are leather. They have said I'm welcome to return them if I wish. As a pro seller, I have more rights to do this, but need to check about return fees.

I'm a bit torn in what to do and as an irregular user, not sure of the etiquette. I do like and will wear the shoes but wouldn't have paid the price I did if I knew they weren't actually leather. Suck it up?

If you’re sure they’re not leather I’d return them.

You can ask for a refund to bring the price down to what you would have paid for leatherette. Seller can say no. Then you can report item not as described and get full refund including postage fees. Etiquette is totally to do that, people shouldn't be filling in description inaccurately. Ignore the bit about 15 pairs the same being sold without complaint.

I’ve never used vinyls but am intrigued by your post. I thought counted was used items. So how can the seller have sold 15+ pairs of the same? That sounds a scam to me

It's just individual seller to buyer, it's not necessarily used. I think some of it is end of line stuff from shops as they change over their stock. Presumably the seller has a relationship with the shop. Don't know exactly how this works tbh, or whether it's legit all along the way, I generally buy used as you can get better quality for your money that way.

I bought a pair of sandals on Vinted that were fake leather and I fucking regret it. Never again! I used Vinted for everything but I won’t be using it for shoes again. Shoes are too important.

Report them for not as described

leatherette = plastic.

And considerably cheaper than genuine leather. I would ask for a refund and buy the proper leather shoes you intended to get in the first place.

I bought something from a pro seller that was not as described. I asked to return and they set it up their end with me having to pay postage. I said not happy to pay postage as had bought what were advertised as 36/36 trousers and they were 40" waist and cropped! It dragged on with them not responding and by time I escaped to Vinted to assist, it was too late. Very annoying process as you say you are not happy and try and resolve directly and then get left with an unusable product!

Thanks for suggesting I can ask for a partial refund, @Soverymuchfruit I'll try that as a first option.
