My foundation brush is 20 years old. Think I need a new one

It’s a Mac one and still seems to do the job fine but I am thinking i should get a new one in case I don’t realise that it’s deteriorated over time.

im looking at Mac again and can’t find a brush which looks similar. It’s quite a wide, round brush I currently have. Slightly dome, not flat top and not angled.

this one seems to be the best selling Mac foundation brush https://www.maccosmetics.co.uk/product/13805/285/products/brushes-tools/brushes/face-brushes/190s-foundation-brush. But it looks narrow and reviews talk about needing a blender as well as the brush to blend it all out.

has anyone got this brush and would you recommend it. Am I supposed to apply with one brush and blend with another? Or can anyone recommend a decent all in one foundation brush which blends liquid make up in well?

Yes get a new one! I can't imagine how filthy that one is but your happily wiping it on your face your meant to replace it every few years 🤢

“You’re meant to replace it every few years”? Who told you that - was it by any chance a beauty company?! If it’s not broken and you’re washing it regularly there is no need to send it to landfill.

Oh come on. I’m sure OP washes her brushes regularly, and that’s actually why it’s lasted so long. I have a couple of brushes that old too, still better (nicer to use) than any of my newer ones.

OP, I’ve found Hourglass don’t last at all. Trish McEvoy do and I rate. I have a lovely brush from Ilia at the moment, it’s not a foundation brush though.

Have you looked at Sephora brushes? They have a huge range of different shapes and sizes. I have a few of their brushes and they last a long time and wash well.

Thanks will avoid Hourglass. Never heard of Trish McEvoy. Am planning a Sephora trip at the weekend so will have a look there
