Where is 'safest' to sell higher value items online?

I am not really familiar with Vinted, but it would appear from social media and posts on places like Mumsnet that it can be very scammy and sellers are the victim, with no returned items, and refunds being given etc...so not great?

I have a few things I would like to sell, not silly money but not small values to me, at least. For example I have a few designer vintage items (Jimmy Choo shoes, a sheepskin coat, a wedding dress etc) that do really need to go, but I'd be gutted if I got scammed and lost the money and the item obviously!!

Would eBay be better? Or Facebook Marketplace? Any recommendations? Thank you!

Old school, I know, but I use ebay. I've read too many horror stories on MN to get involved with Vinted.

Anything high value, I'd suggest collection only via eBay.
They have to pay eBay and give you a code on collection so once you've got that, they can take the item and you get paid.
You can also see their history and rating on eBay.

Vestaire will only want shoes if they have no wear at all - not even a scuff on the sole.

I sold some Dior shoes on ebay without issue and it's my preference for 'brands' as its much easier to prove items are genuine. My buyers paid ebay plus the postage before i was advised to send the shoes and I then sent the shoes no hassle. I kept photographs in case there were disputes but it was plain sailing.

I buy stuff like this from ebay. I have been using it since 2004. Never been scammed by a buyer or a seller (a buyer tried it on once but ebay sided with me). Idk why people went off it, it’s never done me wrong in hundreds of transactions.

I am going to have a look on eBay tonight I think - I have sold on there before, but only vehicles, so totally different and not for years. Thanks very much for all your input!

I sell things on ebay and find that some branded items attract scammers.
The common ones are 'not received' (when it was Signed For' or 'item not as described' (blue skirt mysteriously arrived black).
