What shoes are Y7 wearing

School have specified black, below the ankle and no logos. I have no idea what’s in fashion for this age group. I want her to have something robust (underpass often floods and water pools there for ages), something she won’t get picked on for, a style that comes in a wide fit. Please help a mama out with suggestions!

Nike AF1s are worn by girls & boys alike at the secondary mine are at. I am impressed at how robust they are. DD walks 30 mins to school & then back again most days in hers; DS plays football in his for an hour every lunchtime.

I got my ds some doc marten shoes in year 7 and they lasted until the end of year 8 at which point we bought the exact same pair again 🤣
definitely robust and definitely cool. Pricey initially but her mates have got through about eight pairs in the same time period

My dd wore loafers from New Look in year 7-9 and a pair would usually last a school year. Then when her feet stopped growing DM shoes.

Not helpful to you as you’ve specified below the ankle- would they even know under the trousers? My DD has requested flares and chunky boots.

Doc martens lace ups. I think they are technically boys shoes but DD liked them

What’s the full shoe policy? Branded & fashion shoes not allowed at DDs school, so nothing with any logo or obvious brand like Nike. I did kickers one year and just cut the tagged off. My 12yo DD wears loafer type shoes, 14yo ballet which I hate as they have zero support, thankfully they are now on the banned list. No idea what she’s going to pick next week when we go shopping.

She’s worn trainers through most of primary and mostly lives in trainers outside of school, so this is really helpful everyone.

Must be : Smart plain black leather, hard sole
Can’t be: Raised heels, above ankle, sports branded, have coloured stitching, have trainer sole, boots

Interestingly, I’ve just seen their 6th form shoe policy allows trainers because “Trainers in plain block colours are also permitted as we recognise that students should be comfortable walking to and from school”

It implies other year groups shouldn’t be comfortable! Schools are so ridiculously stupid sometimes. They didn’t need to say that. Saying nothing after the dos and don’ts for sixth form attire would have been fine.
