Anyone with thick wavy hair tried the Shark Silkipro?

What do we all think of the Shark Silkipro? I have thick, wavy hair so would love to know if anyone with similar hair finds it life changing!

I can achieve all of that look for much less (just watched a You Tube video). I have asian heritage so v thick wavy hair, there is a lot. Other than my mums, mine is the thickest hair my hairdresser does.

I use a sulfate free shampoo, followed by Loreal Elvive Dream Lengths conditioner. Followed by Loreal serum.

I have a cheap hairdryer stand from Amazon and the highest wattage hairdryer (a Revlon) I could find. Rough dried in 10 mins. Use claw grips to section. I have the widest plate straighteners I could find which were £17 Babyliss ones.

My secret sauce is using the straighteners with a Denman blow dry clamp brush, which is similar to the set up with the Silkipro. So I use them both at the same time (straighteners and clamp) on same section of hair.

End up with silky and straight hair that lasts all week.

I'd like to know if you try the silkipro out! I have an Airstrait that I got from the second-hand shop, and I'd sell it back there if the silkipro ended up better. I like the speed of the airstrait and it does it nicely straight, but with my thick hair, it just leaves the ends looking like the end of a brush really, straight but no movement, no way of curling them under a bit, just standing out in a thick straight hedge, not sure how to describe it. And from what I read of the silkipro, you can get some curl from the straightener part of it - though whether that's any better than using separate straighteners, I don't know, as it sounds like you have to wait til the hair is dry, so it's not really doing it as part of the drying process. My problem is that no curl holds at all in my hair once it's been straightened first, no matter what products or tools I use, and I've tried a lot! It's curly naturally, but wild, and as soon as I smooth it/straighten it, the curl is gone and won't hold longer than an hour if I put it back, unless it's done by my hairdresser with a brush as she's drying and smoothing it at the same time. I have tried blowdry brushes but I don't get enough tension to smooth it myself, and I'm not co-ordinated enough to do it the way she does. So I'm using the airstrait and trying to curl it after, and am not very successful. I potentially like the sound of this, but am not convinced it would be any better, but would just do the same thing with one tool!

I am really curious about it but all these tools take time and patience and that’s where I fall down

Basically, if I put in the time and I’m patient, I can achieve that with anything

The real advantage, I suppose that it’s an all in one

I can’t really imagine taking that to the gym though - I need something I can use in a hurry for that. I don’t know really. I kind of wish I was disciplined enough to put in all that effort.

Apparently, it weighs about half a kilo, which seems rather unwieldy for styling

I’ve been interested to know what you think if you get it. Did you see it on the QVC offer like me?

The QVC deal seems to be over now. I had been considering trying it and reading reviews etc, and if I decided to do it, I'd have gone with them as you can return things no questions asked I think - so could have actually tried it out. But now it's back to normal price.

Did give it a go, OP, or anyone else?

It seems to weigh less than the Dyson airstrait which I find OK, so I'm not so worried about that bit. More whether I could get smooth hair but still add curls that would actually stay.
