Woman's equivalent of lounge suit

I am accompanying my husband to a conference which had a programme of events for partners. There are 3 levels of dress code....3 is casual. 2 is smart casual (men can wear a button down shirt with no tie and chinos). Level 1 is lounge suit....so I assume that the female equivalent is linen dress during the day and wedding guest but not mob in the evening?
The delegates are a mix of academic and military but the military people will not be in uniform (I have read rules for mess dinners in the past!)
Any opinions welcome🙂

Lounge suit is not formal so you can wear day dress or cocktail dress jumpsuit or trouser suit would be acceptable. Not full length gown. Smart casual you can wear anything but not sportswear or gym gear.

I love the fact that I need to consult Debretts. I think Im on target...one day there's a morning ceremony so linen shirt dress should cover that as there's a coach tour in the afternoon.
Folklore evening should be ok with shiny trousers outfit!
National dress would be easier...I have two Indian friends who wear a sari to events and look fabulous.
I have discovered I am coastal grandmother style!
