Can you tell me what body shape I am?

I’ve lost a lot of weight and am currently a size 14 with large bust, smaller waist, but a big tummy. For reference, I’m 5’ 10” with long legs (33” inside leg). I have quite broad shoulders.

Bust- 38”
Waist- 32”
Hips- 42”

I’ve tried looking online and I’m getting everything from pear to hourglass but then, when I try clothes that are reportedly good for those shapes, they do nothing for me.

Bonus point if you identify my body type but also point me towards Instagram or TikTok accounts of tall women with the same shape, for inspo.

(Pic will take a few mins).

Your hand position and baggy(top)outfit do not make it easy to judge your shape,

ThreeTescoBags · 10/08/2026 14:44

When looking at your body shape measure a circle around your upper arms / shoulders and compare that with your waist and hips rather than bust. If you have broad shoulders you might suit dressing for an inverted triangle better. Fitted up top, scooped / v neck, avoid puffy sleeves, nipped in at the waist and kicked out at the bottom (a-line or wide legged trousers) to balance out your wider shoulders.

Measurements indicate hourglass, your waist has a ten inch difference.

I thought a true hourglass figure is when the shoulders and hips are equal measurmennts with a very defined waist, which is why it is fairly rare. The picture makes it difficult to assess properly though.

Hourglass

YouSawBrigadoon · 10/08/2026 19:01

Those measurements indicate pear shape, I believe.

EveryDayisFriday · 10/08/2026 19:07

I would choose hourglass over pear as your shoulders are level with your hip.
Scoop, sweetheart and v neck tops, bootcut trousers and pencil skirts and dresses that nip in at the waist.

Petrine · 10/08/2026 19:15

Hourglass is when bust and hip measurements are the same and the waist significantly smaller. I’d say you’re pear shaped.

rachel734 · 10/08/2026 19:43

My measurements are very similar to yours. I consider myself an hourglass, more or less. Fit-and-flare dresses work well. So do colorful, patterned tops, perhaps with a V-neck or other interesting neckline, and plainer, solid-color bottoms.

HappiestSleeping · 10/08/2026 19:44

Looks like you have a human body shape to me. 😜

The organisation Colour Me Beautiful have a lot of info on body shape.

Handeyethingyowl · 11/08/2026 09:26

I am a similar shape and measurements and think I am technically hourglass. I don’t suit round necks, or anything too tight so wear a lot of boat neck or v neck tops and size up. I have found success with trousers at Uniqlo, sizing up.

Viperregency · 11/08/2026 09:29

Your hips are four inches bigger than your bust so it’s either pear or apple

as said, it’s impossible for people to judge if you wear baggy clothes hiding your shape

pastadish · 11/08/2026 17:13

The top is too baggy to see what your shape is, you need to wear a tight top
from your measurements you are more likely an hourglass or maybe figure 8 but can’t tell where your hip shelf is because of the top.
You don’t look pear or apple or rectangle

SchnitzelAgain · 11/08/2026 19:07

You’ve got a great figure and I would imagine it’s an hourglass, but not a traditional 50s hourglass.
