It's fucking impossible to buy thick cotton socks anymore!

I bought about 20 pairs of really thick cotton socks from M&S many years ago as I liked those particular ones so much and dreaded the day I would need to replace them as I've noticed how it's impossible to buy quality cotton tshirts anymore. And they have now finally started to give up the ghost...

In M&S yesterday and I observed:

  1. most of their socks are synthetic
  2. even the "cotton rich" ones are only 85% cotton. And importantly THEY ARE SO THIN YOU COULD SPIT PEAS THROUGH THEM! Even the supposedly cushioned sports socks.

I'm going to have to wear 2 pairs at a time aren't I or put wool ones over the top (I don't like wool ones right next to my skin - I need a "base layer" sock that properly hugs my foot) Yes, I have sensory issues...

I know other retailers are available but ChatGPT tells me it's an issue across the board.

Try Qomfort socks. I just bought some and they are so thick I need a larger shoe size. I think they will last forever.

Uniqlo socks are good. Nice thick cotton and come in a ton of different colours.

Indeed. I got some good ones from Sainsbury's Tu last winter. Thick cotton ankle socks in nice colours. I thought it best to see how they washed before buying more. By then they were out of stock, so there's clearly more of us who want them.
