How can I accessorise this dress for a formal office?

Hi everyone, I am currently job hunting and had an interview in a very formal setting. I have this dress arriving today and I am wondering - if I am lucky enough to get the job - how I could accessorise this dress with a jacket, shoes, etc. to make it suitable for the office.

Does anybody have any ideas please? I really love the dress and want it to work.

MN is obsessed with "blazers".I'm never sure if posters are really literally suggesting blazers or if it's a catch all for any jacket that isn't an outdoor jacket.

You could easily put a jacket over that type of sleeve as long as the jacket itself isn't tight at the sleeve, or has a raglan type sleeve.

It's definitely used in real life! 😁 It comes from the old TV show 'Happy Days'. Many seasons into the show, there was a storyline about the Fonz (one of the characters) jumping a shark on skis. It was agreed that this was the worst episode ever and signalled the end of the show being any good. Now the phrase is generally used to mean that something has reached a point of complete decline.

I often see it used online to mean that trolls have shown their hand by being too OTT with their plot twists. I don't think it's meant that way here, though!

I think a blazer would look weird with this. It's a summer chilling party dress you wear with a sandal. So it's not really workwear regardless. It's nice though.

I’d spend most days freezing in the office in the summer without a blazer! But perhaps that’s because I’m not a cardigan person (just never found them to look right on me).

Maybe I use blazer too broadly (to answer another poster) but there are definitely jackets of various styles and fabrics around my office and plenty of women stick on a pair of heels a few days a week. Not many of the younger ones but if the OP is considering a dress from Hobbs they’re unlikely to be one of the younger ones in the office.

I think it's a lovely dress and would work well in this heat, for about a fortnight. It needs a cream jacket - have a look at Whistles and cream kitten heels. Not dark.

However, the bow at the back is the issue, not because it's unprofessional or too girly, but if you are sitting at a desk all day, it's going to really dig into the small of your back and be uncomfortable. Add in a train/tube journey and double the discomfort.

I know this from experience, albeit 40 odd years ago - only did it once.

Depends on the yellow but yes far more likely, with black flats, than a blazer with heels. I definitely wouldn't wear a blazer and heels with this dress.

The lemony cream reminds me of outfits the Princess of Wales might wear to a wedding or a Christening and the bow is not quite right .
Tan sandals or a cream or a two tone shoe would be better than a heavy looking navy or black but not for the office.

A cream bouclé jacket with gold buttons would work best with this dress, with some matching cream low heels

Lovely dress but I think the bow could make any cardigan or jacket look lumpy at the back. It's a summer occasion dress and I think any attempt to accessorise to make it look like formal office wear will clash with the summer vibes / colour.
