Where can I find an opaque white shirt for work?

Omg why is finding a non see-through white shirt such an impossible task!

I just need a normal/plain white, long-sleeved shirt for work and I am having an absolute nightmare finding one that isn’t basically made of netting.
I don’t want to have to wear a vest or cami underneath, surely this isn’t an unreasonable request? (At this point I have given up on specific styles, just anything that’s office appropriate and doesn’t resemble beachwear would suffice.)

I’ve just tried on some options from Hobbs, John Lewis (own brand) and Ralph Lauren, and every single one is ridiculously see-through. Who is actually buying these?!?!

Please share your recommendations for opaque white shirts that you own and love! Alternatively please just tell me I’m not alone and you’re also experiencing the Great White Shirt Crisis™ so I know I’m not going mad here.

Go for the Lauren by Ralph Lauren. I have this in white and blue. Well worth the cost.

Since last update, I have tried:
Tommy Hilfiger
Lauren Ralph Lauren - Jamelko
Next (own brand)
Boden - Sienna
… and all of them are still too thin 😭

For context, I would consider it too thin when you can read the paper tag label clearly/easily through the layer of fabric.

I have some ancient shirts from GAP which are great fabric but getting v old now and looking a bit worn round the edges. (In a way this is almost unhelpful because I know that what I’m looking for does exist, otherwise I might have given up earlier in this quest.)

Still have some orders due for more of the suggestions above (thanks again for all). In the meantime - any more suggestions please? Am I resigned to vests and camisoles forever? The Great White Shirt Crisis of 2026 continues!
