Where can short women find well fitting tailored work trousers? (Not cheap polyester)

I am on the short side and I don’t have a problem buying jeans or casual trousers - I buy a petite size or normal and get them taken up.

However in the last few years I am really struggling with finding tailored trousers for work that fit. My shape has not changed at all - still a size 8. The problem is that most trousers now seem really high waisted and if they fit me around the waist there is too much fabric around the hip and crotch area and they just look too big. I do have one pair of Hobbs petite trousers - they are called Gerrie - that are a perfect fit - but they only come in black.

i just bought some lovely grey wool trousers from Vinted (brand new from Whistles) and they have the same issue - too much fabric…

any suggestions??

I find Reiss good for this - can often find wool mix tailored trousers.

@DancingNotDrowning are you also petite?

i’m on the cusp at 5’3”
Where available I always select their petite range, over regular fit. Not everything is included in the range

Reiss are great still need to take them up though!

What height are you?

at 5’3” I define you do not need to take up their petites and in fact in some styles would be better off on their regular range but to the OPs point the excess fabric in the crotch can be an issue outside of petite.

My place is always M&S.

Thanks all - I might try Reiss.

i haven’t had much luck with M&S. I do have a couple of pairs of jeans from there which are quite good but find the trousers don’t suit me.

I fond Hobbs are still the best for formal workwear and do petite sizing.

Slightly off topic, but I’m 5 foot 3 but with a really long torso and short legs. I can never buy tops from the petite range, as they’d be too short. I had the Hobbs petite trench, but realised the belt sat far too high, so got rid of it. So I imagine OP must have a shorter body and longer legs.

I have the same problem. Bought some lovely winter work trousers from Holland Cooper. Found a tailor to take them up but also to sort out the crotch!!!!.

5’2 here and find petite stradivarius trousers fit really nicely but they are mainly polyester so probably no good for what you want

M&S really depends on your height as they’re not true petite sizes just shortened in the the leg. It can lead to too much fabric in the crotch
