Safer way to create waves in thick shoulder-length hair?

Hi - I have recently bought a Cloud 9 curling wand but keep burning myself.
Please can someone recommend something else I can use that's safer!
I have thick (as in lots of it) shoulder length hair & use an original Dyson hairdryer to dry as otherwise takes forever.
I want a wave rather than really curly
I've thought about saving for Dyson airwrap but not sure they are great on a lot of hair and don't need hairdryer bit anyway. Frustratingly hairdresser does amazing job waving my hair with straighteners but I'm a bit of a novice and not great at hair anyway.

I have thick course hair and really struggle with wands and straighteners for curling too. I bought the TYMO CURLPRO PLUS - it’s so easy to use. If I want more natural waves, I just comb the curls out. Takes no time at all either.

Thanks thats intereting - I've read the curls dont last very long & need to do very small sections
