Vinted and international sellers with no location filter option

Sorry if this is already on here. I know Vinted has gone downhill since rejigging all the sizing, but is anyone else suddenly having their feed flooded with items from America and Australia? I only spotted it because the prices were so weird (completely non-round numbers) and have taken them all off my favourites, but I've counted and out of the first fifty items on my recommendations, all but two are from those countries. It feels like they are definitely being forced onto my home page.

I'm only using Vinted for the environmental aspect, so why would I would to ship something from the other side of the world? I contacted them for help, but their chatbot basically said, 'Nothing we can do, you can't turn off sellers from another country.'

In a way this is actually quite useful, as I don't have to use willpower to quit the platform, as it's literally unusable for me now until they realise they're losing custom and put filters in place. Any tips, or do I just move to eBay?

I think it’s bonkers op. Surely it would have been much better to set up Vinted US and Vinted AUS instead of one platform to encompass all. I also now check the country of origin of an item for sale and won’t buy anything from overseas. I use Vinted for cost reasons, but environmental factors are important too as I hate disposable, cheap fashion. I also think you should be able turn off sellers from another country but suspect the reason you can’t do that is that the vast majority of users would make that choice therefore proving that their business model doesn’t work.

Have you set your preferred brands in the Personalisation settings? I find that I don’t see much from Aus ot the US in my feed as a result. I don’t know any of the US and Aus brands so have no interest in their clothing and neither do I want to transport a cheap second hand item around the world!

@cmonspring Agree, think it's a dreadful model they're having to force on users. I wonder how many people will be burnt by it before there's enough of a fuss to stop it.

@SilenceInside The trouble is that lots of these brands from American and Australian sellers are the same brands I'd look at here (Zara, Anthropologie, H&M, Topshop), plus my best buys from Vinted over the years have been from brands I'd not heard of or wouldn't think to 'prefer'. It's just not a functional workaround (that the bot suggested too) but I appreciate the suggestion!

No worries, seems to work for me, I suppose because the brands I select are usually UK only.

Vinted are definitely not going to roll this back or implement a filter as they have merged databases and actively want cross country sales.

I’ve noticed quite a few US items were starting to creep in recently but this morning my whole feed is just full of Australian sellers! Really annoying that you can’t put UK only filter 😡

I’ve just had an American buyer buy a book from me and I’m tempted to cancel the order because of the environmental aspect. Why would they pay so much postage on a £3 book?

I have noticed this too - loads of US sellers in my feed but cheap postage…How?

On the flip side, I’ve done very well with second hand Primark items (which can often sit for a while or not sell) being bought by people in Australia. I also bought some genuine Alo Yoga shorts from the US which were much cheaper than UK prices although they took ages to arrive!

Yes, I could understand a couple but it's basically my entire feed. Doesn't seem organic at all, and might be the final nail in the coffin for my Vinted habit.

I have ended up selling two dresses in the last week that have had to be sent to Australia - such a waste of resources and the delay on the money arriving till it gets there is also annoying. Any disputes are going to be even harder to sort.
