Which tops and trousers with this blazer?

After swearing off black, I have bought this for work in a very cold office https://www.next.co.uk/style/su986651/g76531

It fits me beautifully, quality petite blazers at reasonable price are hard to find. My initial thought was that it will go with everything but now I am struggling to imagine it with anything other than black trousers or dark jeans and a white or black top. But I do not want to buy more black tops or trousers. The blazer has a light texture and gold buttons.

What is your colouring, OP? What colours do you usually wear, & what is the rest of your work wardrobe like? And is your office fairly formal?

It's a very simple classic jacket, so you could wear it with skirts, dresses or trousers (including jeans if they're ok for your office). Blazers/jackets seem to be either oversized or cropped right now, so this isn't "fashionable" as such - but nor is it dated & I think it's a good buy. You can always mix in more of the moment pieces if that matters to you.

@EleanorMc67 My colouring is similar to Kate Middleton. Black is not my best colour, but looks ok with make up and it is so cold in the office that I do need more that one blazer. The cut of it is what suits me best as petite pear shapes, I have dapped in both cropped and oversized but both didn’t “feel like me”.

Would you wear it with cream knee length Bermuda shorts like these French Connection ones?

you can wear cream, tan, olive green, burgandy, brown, pale pink. In basically any style you wish, if petite I’m guessing you prefer a straight leg trouser, and of course skirts and dresses work too.

As it's from Reiss (so I assume you like their clothing), I had a quick look on there as to what it would go well with, IMO.

It's really nice, isn't it? A good in-between (smart & casual) piece.

I saved the images before you said what your colouring was, so brighter/richer burgundies/greens/blues may be more your thing. And before you rejected long tailored shorts as not smart enough, so the sleeveless dresses may not be? (Hadn't known that to be an issue in some offices until reading it on MN!)

Ah, so I presume short sleeves & below the knee as a minimum? If you like the shape of the shirtdress, denim skirt or the trousers, I'd suggest looking at: Boden; M&S Autograph; COS; ARKET; John Lewis own brands; Jigsaw; Whistles - off the top of my head!!!

Also have a look at previous threads in S&B on cotton shirtdresses, interview outfits (as they're more conservative) etc. There are a few recent threads that have lots of nice dresses & other outfit suggestions that would work with your blazer.

Kate might wear polka dots. Try a polka dot blouse, skirt or dress.
