Dress for 11 year old DD for wedding

Hi, I'm looking for a dress for my 11 year old DD to wear to a wedding in Ireland in a few weeks. She's quite tall and curvy and starting to get breasts, but obviously not fully developed yet, do whilst she would fit say a size 8, most styles would be loose around the bust. Plus she wants to wear something reasonably fashionable but still appropriate. She likes brandy Melville, Hollister etc but their stuff is generally too casual for a wedding. Grateful for suggestions of particular dressed or even just brands to look at!

Thank you! I think those would be slightly too formal though - it will mostly be a daytime wedding, and fairly relaxed (but not relaxed enough for a little cotton Hollister dress!)

My daughter had prom and we went to the charity shops in a well heeled are and found lots of options - might be an idea to take a look there for some ideas

I made a similar post re my 12 yo DD a few months back....loads of suggestions (can't work out how to link back to that post, sorry)

This is the one she chose -

It was a small-ish wedding with lots of families and tweens/teens. This dress fitted in perfectly. Defo not too casual!

DD made her confirmation this year and this dress was very popular with the 12 year olds. Lots were wearing it. www.next.ie/en/style/su822394/w94262

We found next, monsoon and TK Maxx perfect for this type of thing.

Also JJS house. But great advice upthread on charity shops in fancy areas!

Dd13 went to a wedding recently and wore this

dd10 wore a dress from Lipsy and they had lots of different styles.

edited to add we bought the Zara dress in store. Just seen online it’s a midi dress. Dd is 5”4 and it was a maxi dress on her!

Look at Lipsy dresses on Next app. My 11 yr old is my height and has this dress which looks lovely on her: https://www.next.co.uk/style/SU822386/G67432

This kind of thing from the teen section in Mango if she’s comfortable without a bra?

Avoid the first Amazon link which is clearly photoshopped and probably the same shite sold on Temu or Shein.

H&M good for that age, or Zara.

The Mango dresses are very nice. But in this scenario I’d get a skirt (midi or maxi) with a top or blouse, the skirt being something she could wear again. Mango teen have lots of skirts.

My daughter, the same age, wore a gorgeous jumpsuit from Lipsy to an event last month. Currently on sale in Next, although we got hers on Vinted for a fraction of the cost. Might be worth a look.

Marmite27 · 28/07/2026 13:08

I’d recommend lipsy DD11 wore one of their dresses to a wedding at the weekend.

Scoffin · 28/07/2026 14:29

Thanks for all the suggestions, we enjoyed looking at them, we have gone with a Lipsy dress in the end - Lipsy was what I was looking for!

My daughter sounds exactly the same - have just got this today and she is delighted despite her reservations. It’s modelled on a younger child but it is gorgeous on, 100% cotton

She’s tall and curvy at 11 and a size 8?

I was going to suggest marks or John Lewis kids

but maybe Zara, mango women’s etc better

Oh sorry missed update

what dress did you decide on?

YoQuieroVino · 29/07/2026 20:13

Ive just bought dresses for a 12 and an 11 year old for a wedding and both went for Lipsy. From Vinted though as I’m too stingy to pay full price for a dress they’ll both wear for a day!
