I am buying my first new pair of shoes in over a year!

I am super-excited

I would like something summery and sandally I think, but not flip flops cos they shred my feet and not crocs cos they're vile

Any recommendations for something easy to slip into, super comfortable and not too sweaty?

Yes sorry should have said, or low heeled would be fine as well. I don't wear the right sort of clothes to go tripping around in high heels, much as I'd love to, am v much jeans and t-shirt girl

I have just got some clarks 'funky rock' but they are not on the website so that's no help at all!

i shall try a couple of suggestions to gauge your shoe taste...

clarks site a bugger - you have to go to sandals, then 'safari park' (quite sensible)

or kurt geiger (sweet)

i assume your feet are up to sandals? or are they shameful and need to be ensconsed in ballerinas?

Mm no not quite like that. I'm not really sure what I mean tbh, sorry! I think what I mean is nothing too dainty or delicate - don't see myself as delicate dainty person so would feel silly in very pretty flimsy sandals if that makes sense.

Yeah I am definitely sure on the sandal thing. I know it seems weird and it will be a big departure from the norm for me but (and this is sad I know) I am soooo jealous of all the women I see in town pottering about in flip flops and other comfy summer shoes while my feet roast in socks and trainers.

Was wondering about birkenstocks or something similar because they are very casual and I've heard very comfy, but they look like they would just fall off all the time. So many sandals seem to have the toe-post bit and I just think that will have the same effect as flip flops and hurt my feet.

i had some from jones bootmaker that were similar to birkenstocks - will see if i can find a link...

Yeah I think that's the sort of thing I'm after. Especially the blue ones, but am worried about the toe-post bit, I've never had shoes with a toe-post that didn't cause me problems.

Do you have the type that don't have the toe-post bit? Do they stay on your feet ok?

Thanks Swedes. Don't think the first pair are really for me, nothing I can put my finger on but just not me I don't think.

I am really leaning towards the birkenstock style sandal the more I look at them, they look ever so comfy and the right sort of casual - am just not convinced they won't fall off my feet all the time and am dreadful for slipping/tripping/falling flat on my face at the best of times.
