How long can you go between BIAB (or similar) appointments?

I've had BIAB for the first time. It looked good when first done but after a week the regrowth was already visible, and the nails look very fake, iykwim. The salon advised infills every 3-4 weeks and tbh I was hoping to extend it to the 4 to save money but I dread to think what they will look like in even two more weeks.

Is this normal? Do I just have very fast growing nails (ironic as the whole reason I went for BIAB is because they would break before I could grow them all to a similar length), or is the salon not very good - there was a small, but noticeable gap between my real nail and the BIAB even when first done, so I suppose if they had covered this up better the regrowth might not have looked as bad so fast, although I can't imagine it still would be very visible after 3 or 4 weeks.

Would I be better off getting gels or similar, or would that be exactly the same issue?

Every 4 weeks for me , I have BIAB with a gel overlay to widen colour choices and have never had any issues with breakages. Mine were done a week ago

I go every 3 weeks.

I work in a job where I’m constantly washing my hands so any longer than 3 weeks they start to lift. Even after 3 weeks the growth isn’t too much and nails still look good.

3 seems to be the sweet spot for me - but you do have to consider that if you have a noticeable colour then any growth is going to stand out. When I have black nails I start thinking they look wrong much earlier than if I have nude/brown/a paler colour.

I had mine done a week ago today, for reference:
