Cold sore has left a scar- how do I get rid of it?

Had a nasty cold sore on my top lip about 3 weeks ago, it has healed but the area is still red and it shows no signs of getting any lighter. Any ideas of reducing the red area?

I've had this before. Gentle skincare, no harsh actives or exfoliants, and time is what's needed. Plenty of SPF too.

I've had these. The red will fade by itself eventually.

Sudocrem overnight.

I have a permanent slightly redder patch from repeated incidents (double figures) in the exact same spot but considering how beat up my lip has been each time its healed really well. Highly recommend the compeed patches to reduce impact if it happens again, i just discovered them and am kicking myself for not trying them sooner as they'll definitely help. And drink lots of water as thats definitely seemed to help my healing in the past!

Bio oil might be good

Another vote for bio oil

Not the question you asked, but add L-Lysine (a supplement) to your daily regime. When I take it I don’t get them. If I stop, with a few months I get a breakout. There’s been studies on the link between lysine and the cold sore virus and it’s the only thing I’ve ever found that stops them

Agree with this, I now take Lysine daily and haven't had a break out since.
