What jumper with linen shirts?

Linen shirts have become my new summer staple, usually with shorts. But what do you wear on top when it's a bit cooler? Jackets are way too formal for me and I prefer wool jumpers or cardigans but my usual v-necks make me look as if I'm an 8 year old boy in school uniform. Any ideas, with links to pictures, would be very gratefully received.

I know you said not a jacket but a suggestion anyway - I am not a jacket person at all but I got this one from Uniqlo (in navy) and wear it over a linen shirt and chinos for work - I have got so many compliments about it and it is so comfortable. I plan to pick up another in a different colour
