Hair straightening issue

So I straightened my hair today, looked lovely. Stepped outside and within 5 mins it’s back to its natural wavy mess.. well the ends are anyway.. so think I need a product to help. But not anything for wet hair I want it for after straightening. I guess like how hair spray helps keep hair in place but not sure that’s what I need….

want high street solutions pls that I can pick up in boots/superdrug

I’ve just read about oil for the ends of the hair, what do ppl think pls? TIA

What kind of straighteners are you using? And what is your hair type? Are you straightening it in small sections, running the straighters over slowly at least a couple of times?

They’re babyliss ones. Yes I’m doing in sections etc

Maybe it's humidity? You could probably do two things. One... Blast it with cold air if you have a hairdryer with a cold setting after you straighten it. That'll get rid of any damp bits and set it. Two ...get an anti frizz spray or serum, and/or a heat protection spray while you're straightening it.

Straightening serums tend to be heat-activated, so most are designed for application to damp hair before drying & styling. I haven't tried this one - L'oreal Professionnel X-tenso Care Straight Serum - it says you can put it on dry hair but you still need to heat it:

For after styling, you could always try a rescue cream like this:

But I think you should give Color Wow Dreamcoat a try. It's for wet application and requires attentive drying to lock in your straightness. The effect should last through two or three shampoos.

I have wavy hair and what you’re describing is the reason why I stopped straightening it. I tried loads of different products and nothing worked. Also very expensive straighteners as well as highly recommended cheap straighteners. It would look good for approximately five minutes and then just explode. I realise that isn’t any help, but honestly it was the bane of my life for so many years.

@MargaretMeldrewi wouldn’t say it’s the bane of my life but it’s annoying. However although it got a bit wavy and unkempt, it was only a small bit at the ends so when it got too hot I put it in a sleek ponytail and the tail of the hair felt really nice and smooth no kinks.. so happy with that look but also would like to be able to wear it down and not have any issues

Have you considered a keratin straight treatment? Theres lots on the market that can be done at home or you can splash the cash and get it done at a salon.

Same! I tend to embrace the wave as much as possible/tie it up - but I still straighten my hair 2 or 3 times a week. It depends on what I'm wearing and where I'm going.

I usually have very long hair but I've gone slightly shorter recently (still down to my boobs though). It is slightly less time-consuming in some ways - but slightly more wavy as there's less length.

If you're already straightening it in small sections, starting underneath and doing a slow pass of the straightener - I can only suggest trying some straightening heat-activated sprays to try?
