Not seen anyone wear them on holiday this year

OP posts:

I bought a new pair earlier this year as they as comfy as fuck for flip flops.

ToadRage · Today 16:20

I have had a long running feud with flip flops for years. Never found any comfortable ones, I never tried Havaianas though i had heard good things. Funnily enough the ones to end the feud were the cheap ones I bought in Spain cos i forgot to pack my expensive Nike ones that were at best ok in short doses.

Loubissou · Today 16:42

Er, they're just flip-flops. Who cares what brand anyone else is buying? 🤷‍♀️

SouthwarkLass · Today 16:50

No idea, but they are bloody comfy and last forever. I was delighted that ds's girlfriend bought me a pair for my birthday!

ginasevern · Today 16:58

Don't care. I've worn flip flops in the summer since I was a kid in the 1960's. Admittedly I wear the ones with sparkly bits or beads on them as an adult but they're flip flops nonetheless. They are the most comfortable and liberating footwear I know, second only to bare feet.

Sparkletastic · Today 17:13

I still love them and bought yet another pair in London recently when I couldn’t cope with the shoes I’d worn. I think Archies and Fitflop are having more of a moment this summer but you can’t beat the classic Havaianas.

SpiralSister · Today 17:14

All the flip flops left on the side at my local dive centre are havianas..

Comfy and last ages.

UnPetitDunPetit · Today 17:15

I've had mine 25 years and still going strong! I've noticed you don't see many young people wearing flip flops anymore - it's mainly crocs with socks.

Obviously the op does which is why she's started a thread.
Of course everyone is free to wear what they like but we're also free to want to wear what's in style too.

They’re not comfy

Hito · Today 17:21

I don't get on with havaianas. Prefer billabong

SleepMaskDark · Today 17:23

I wish I could wear toe post shoes or flip-flops of any kind. But I can’t. So uncomfy. What’s wrong with me?😭

They’re not comfy

Some people think they are. When I met my husband he wore nothing else. I have heard lots of people claim flip flops to be the comfiest footwear. My Spanish ones are comfy.

CordwainerBird · Today 17:25

I’ll wear mine until they fall apart

DressOrSkirt · Today 17:28

Havaianas are the comfiest flip flops ever, I have about 5 pairs from plain to strappy to sparkly ones. I don't care or even notice what brand of flip flops other people are wearing though.

GameOfJones · Today 17:30

I agree that I'm seeing more Archies and FitFlops this summer. I have the FitFlop iQushion and they are way more comfortable than Havaianas IMO. They certainly have better arch support.

Darlinghag · Today 17:31

Those - and Ipanemas - are just staples round a pool for me, or as a slipper alternative round the house.

I don’t see them as a trend or not, just like a basic. They last years.

I have seen Archie’s doing the rounds too!

TheOGCCL · Today 17:33

Yes the fashion is probably more fugly croc style things but Havanias are a classic. Like Converse.

I'm on holiday in the UK at the moment and have seen a few pairs on older people.

Jungfraujoch · Today 17:34

Archies are the best!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · Today 17:38

I’m truly astonished that anyone cares whether such a thing as flip flops are ‘old hat’.

I’m currently wearing a cheap pair I bought in a French supermarket several years ago, after my previous ones broke. They were initially uncomfortable but ‘wore in’ very well.

Agreed.
I love flip flops and these are the best.

Not old hat. Always look good.

As far as casual sandals go I only wear Havianas. I wouldn’t be seen dead in fitflops or crocs!

TheChosenTwo · Today 18:11

I’ve got 4 pairs and there are around 15 pairs knocking about my house, we all wear them! Well, me, dh and ds, perfect for holidays and pool and beach days, I take mine to the lake when getting in and out for a swim and also (a different pair) to the spa.
I don’t wear them much because after a while I find the bit between my toes make me feel a but weird but for short use they are very comfy and padded and they just last forever.
Well, unless you’re dh, he ran over one of his with the mower and also left some out for the foxes to destroy!

Keepoffmyartichokes · Today 18:14

Love my havianas comfy and look good.

malefields · Today 18:15

Havaianas are a staple shoe in many places (especially Brazil), they’ll never be out.
