Can you wear trousers to a whole day family wedding?

Have my cousins weding on Saturday.I was going to wear a long grey silk skirt patterned with pink flowers and a pink top. The skirt doesnt really suit a jacket as quite floaty so I'd chosen a dressy grey cardigan to wear over.
Ordered cardigan online and it came today wrong style, colour (bottle green)
and size.
Have been trawling net for other option and can't find anything that I like or that would go.

Now wondering if should ditch skirt and wear top with trousers and nice jacket.
The top in a bright pink wrap top.
Any ideas?

I'm size 16-18 with heavy legs and a bit of a tum.

Can't just not do no cardi/jacket as wedding in north scotland and weather unpredictable.

Any help/ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Would you wear black or something else?

I don't think I would wear trousers...but you've gotta go with what you've got!

But...couldn't you get a lovely soft grey pashmina or look elsewhere? I'll have a look online for you, hang on...

I work on the basis that you can wear trousers to pretty much anything, so long as they are dressy enough. I'd probably go for something lighter than black for a summer wedding though, whether trousers or skirt/dress.

this with a HUGE pink fake flower corsage would look lovely, or big pink chunky beads

maidamess · 25/06/2008 16:42

or a pink belt round your waist to nip it in.

I did, black ones at that too! I wore them with long chiffon tunic thing which could have been worn as a dress if i'd been slimmer and shorter . The tunic had some red in so I dressed it up with red patent high heels and a black patent handbag.

My mum wore a trouser suit to my wedding, she looks fab, really smart.
It was hilarious though seeing the look on my cousin's face, apparently mum dragged her all the way around Lakeside to find an outfit, bought the one she saw first... but wore a totally different outfit to my wedding!

I second the pashmina idea, btw very classy

Babyramone · 25/06/2008 16:51

ooo pashmina idea sounds nice.

You could get a soft grey one (maybe with beaded fringing) from Tie Rack.. And every town in the WORLD has a tie rack.

maidamess · 25/06/2008 16:53

Or..perhaps a thread of silver running through it?!
