Best place to buy quality checked shirts?

Hi,

Can anybody recommend the best place to buy plaid shirts in a size 16? I normally buy mine from New Look and H&M, but the quality isn't great. They're too thin and fade after only a few washes.

Charity shops the mens section ! I’ve recently discovered how much I love mens shirts , I can sew a bit so I’ve shortened a couple of linen ones . My favourite one is from frame and is a check flannel . I’m a 16 and a man’s size M fits me well , if the arms are too long I can roll them up .

Rails via vinted or eBay, as they are expensive. But lovely.

DH always gets plaid shirts from Lands End, brushed cotton and very soft and warm. They last forever.

Just had a quick look. The women's shirts are called flannel boyfriend shirts.

Depending on wear you live, any typical "country store". Or go to one of the many country fairs at this time of year. Or Cordings in London, albeit they will be at the pricier end.

I prefer to buy brand new.

Edited

Thanks!

I have had a look and the shirts look nice. What size would a 16 be? Large?

DH buys a Large and his shirt measures 21" pit to pit - tailored fit. Regular fit in Large is 23.5" so a lot roomier.

Lands End customer service is brilliant so if you want specifics they will fall over themselves to help you.

Barbour?

I too think on a limited budget your best bet is men’s departments. And if you’re not keen on pre-owned, my suggestion would be a good T K Maxx. If you look patiently you’ll find hugely better quality than New Look and H&M.

I have seen new in original packaging Lands End shirts on eBay quite often. Worth a search every so often, once you know your size.

Try Mountain Warehouse. They have multiple colourways and designs in women's. Understandably you'll likely find the best choice once their autumn/winter stock comes in, but at other times you can get some real bargains. The branch near me seems to have a perpetual sale on and I've got some good checked shirts in recent months for as little as £10 (full price usually around £30+).

I am not on a limited budget though

Ah - your mention of New Look and H&M suggested otherwise!

In that case, Rails for sure. So soft.
