Hi all, has anyone been to the first night of the proms? We’re lucky to be going this year and no idea if it’s dressy/casual?

Would welcome some advice from those that have been please?

It’s all of the above. I’ve done last night and it varies from shirts and t-shirts to ballgowns. I’d go with nicer than usual summer frock.

Thank you, this is what I was thinking to be honest. I hate being under/overdressed

I go to the Proms a lot and you can honestly wear whatever you want. Most people seem to wear smart casual but you will see jeans and smart day wear too. As with the PP, I usually wear a nicer summer dress ... and comfortable shoes, it's a long walk from the tube station!

Thank you @LollyWillowI've just had a dress delivered today that fits the bill. I had planned to wear heels so may take some flats for the walk. Thanks for the heads up 🚶‍♀️

IME the Albert Hall gets incredibly hot, especially if you are higher up, so I would make sure you dress for heat or have layers you can take off.
