Has anyone had jaw or lip issues after Botox for marionette lines?

3 weeks ago I had Botox for my marionette lines and I just can’t get used to it?

I’ve had Botox before for my forehead; 11’s and a tiny bit either side of eyebrows. Was super happy with that.

This time I went to a new practitioner as I’ve moved house. She’s a GP, so medically no worries.

She offered to do Botox for my marionette lines - the ones that give you that dragged down/grumpy look. I’m 42 and they are starting to get deeper. I was unsure but agreed to try a tiny bit.

The first 7-10 days were awful! Jaw and face ache bad enough to need paracetamol. My upper lip (which she didn’t inject anywhere near!) doesn’t work as it did before; I can’t fold it over very well (like you might if you were eating yoghurt off a spoon)

Every now and then I can’t pronounce words as precisely as I want to, and overall I feel I can’t use my jaw/lips as I want.

I feel v naive for not having anticipated this, but also wonder if the Botox migrated? She used Bocouture.

I know it will wear off so I’m not panicked, and the ache has mostly gone finally. Just not sure if I had bad luck or she did something wrong? She was extremely professional and meticulous so I doubt it?

Does this experience resonate with anyone? Not sure I’ll have it done again

Not had it myself but best is to do lots of exercise and go to sauna etc to get rid of Botox as soon as you can. Sadly sometimes it doesn’t settle right and best way it to just speed out its exit.

I'd be a bit concerned she'd done something wrong, have you contacted her about your symptoms? Did she make you aware these were potential side effects?

I had Botox on one marionette line and barely did anything, certainly didn’t cause any problems with function. I also had a lip flip, which I really liked but again had no problems with function. Did you have a follow up appointment?

No she didn’t mention any side effects

I knew from previous 11’s Botox that I might get some light headache/muscle ache, but not like this…

I wonder if she injected too deeply? My googling suggests that could be the case

I saw her for follow up 2 weeks later, and she didn’t say anything about it, she seemed surprised though

She is very conscientious so it’s a genuine error if it is one, maybe I should have gone to someone who has been doing it longer (I think this is her first year or two)
