How do others manage leg hair and keep legs smooth in summer?

How do you deal with leg hair? I see so many women with lovely smooth tanned looking legs in summer. I shave mine mostly, wax for holiday, & I can never ever get a close shave finish. I can always still see black dots or tiny stubble. They itch like mad afterwards too so sometimes end up with scratches.
Recently tried veet but that left half the hairs behind

I guess waxing is the best result but how do people manage when it starts growing back until the next wax?
I do an outdoor fitness camp & the other ladies have the smoothest loveliest looking legs whereas I’m to embarrassed to even wear shorts!

I just shave each morning in the shower and moisturise if I remember.

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePleaseBarista · 27/06/2026 18:47

What razor are you using?

I shave daily in the shower all year round. I find Estrid razor gives me the closest shave and I am not a fan of shaving gel but use cheap coconut hair conditioner.

I always apply dry body oil - Aveeno relief one I think it’s called.

I find the more you shave the more your skin gets used to it. Plus moisturising after every bath or shower.
I also exfoliate my legs once a week too which I think helps on removing dead skin.
The trick for me is to start shaving more regularly in spring so skin gets used to it before ‘legs out’ season.

I shave every day . Just use shower gel. I must admit I never moisturise , because it makes me feel greasy .

It's really easy. Just get old 😁.

I am/was dark haired with light skin so the hair follicles could be seen after I'd shaved.

now my legs are totally hair free, and I do nothing. Now if only my skin wasn't wrinkled and saggy, I'd be great!

just enjoy what you've got. I promise no one is going to get that close to your legs they'd notice a bit of stubble. And if they did, I imagine they and you had far more interesting things on your mind.

I have an IPL (Lumea). Love it for lower legs, pits, bikini line. Thighs takes too long and I cba.

Shinyandnew1 · 27/06/2026 19:01

I shave them in the shower when they need doing. I use a Gillette Mach 3 razor-they are so much better than any others.

YellingAway · 27/06/2026 19:03

I got the Philips Lumea IPL and was a complete game changer for me.

Shaving doesn't last any time. I epilate and only do that every couple of weeks and there's nothing to see or feel inbetween. Epilators aren't expensive.

I have had laser and very quickly went from constantly hairy to hairless. It was a game changer for me.

Men’s razor and cheap conditioner to shave every other day and then dry oil

Yes to the Philips Lumea.

I used an IPL from a different brand about 20 years ago, and have barely any regrowth since. There’s a few errant hairs here and there, But the Lumea I started using about a year ago has seen those off. My under arms are hair free, and the Lumea has been so much more efficient in getting rid of bikini line hairs … also the ‘tache that has plagued me since my teens. Yes, the initial outlet may be greater, but I bought mine via Boots when they had a big discount available, plus got my Boots points! One of the most worthwhile purchases I have ever made. I speak as a hairy individual, Mediterranean skin tone and dark hair.

I get the best results with shaving followed by an exfoliating sanding thing (not immediately when wet, just works best on very short hair).

These are cheap and do the job https://amzn.eu/d/098s2QdV

My legs don’t get hairy

Judging · 27/06/2026 19:28

I have a Lumea. Leg hair is a distant memory.

Alouest · 27/06/2026 20:42

Lumea love from me too. My leg hairs basically don't exist any more. Also great for random facial hair should that be of interest!

schoolrundashsprint · 27/06/2026 20:55

I epilate. It's great and reduces regrowth once you've done it for a while.

Mrscharlieeeee · 27/06/2026 20:57

I shave every other day, moisturise daily with palmers cocoa butter and I use a fake tan once a week. Exfoliate fully in the shower before I tan.
