What bra (if any with this dress)

Hi all,

I've just purchased this dress for holiday and I love it. Its the right amount of girly and floaty but also covers my bloated belly. I'm slim but have hormonal issues and get very bloated.

Any ideas what bra can be worn with it, if any? As it's backless. I'm just worried I'll bend over and my nipples may fall out! I've got in white but think I'm going to get another colour too, just haven't decided which.

Sorry, but l think the time has come when we need to stop pretending that we don’t have nipples, let alone risking some sort of coverage slipping.

I don't mind if someone else has nipples showing through, but OP was asking for ideas. Other people can pull it off but I can't and I'd be very uncomfortable with prominant nipples shown.

@Bigcat25 - On reflection, l worded that post badly; sorry. The OP asked what bra if any, so we don’t know her attitude to wearing it sans bra. I do think there are some quite complex and l suspect uncomfortable ways of concealing a nipple suggested on this thread. With some tops and dresses in the summer l go braless as a 36F and if you can see my nipple outline nobody will die.

But l did not mean to suggest someone should wear something they will not feel uncomfortable in.

Bigcat25 · 26/06/2026 18:03

That's fair. I remember trying on a nightie that totally clung to the nipple and areola and it looked horrendous. Most fabrics are more forgiving. I worked in lingerie for a long time and the nipple covers I had in mind (Bristols Six) are easy to wear and not an annoying gizmo. I'm glad you're comfortable going without a bra though, that's great!

FullOfMomsense · 26/06/2026 18:20

Sticky bra, pasties or buy a nice lace bralette that will look nice under it!

Anonaonanon · 26/06/2026 20:26

Thank you all for the advice. I'm posting a (bad) photo of the dress on- if obviously iron it. I think it's ok with no bra, I suppose I was thinking of those stick on ones to give a bit of an uplift but I don't suppose they will. I'm a size 8 and a 32C.

White string bikini top would look ok if on holiday?

Other than that: tit-tape

Kepler22B · 26/06/2026 20:52

You look great in that - i don’t think you need any more uplift. If you had more it might end up looking a bit much.

Punkindrublic · 26/06/2026 21:08

I dont think it looks as breezy and effortless in person as it does on the website. I would go up a size or two abd ditch the bra. It looks bridal now, not holiday

StarlightLady · 26/06/2026 21:29

OP, it’s lovely and works without a bra. I’ve no experience of stick on things but if it is as warm there as here, l wonder if you would end up in a sticky mess.

You think it looks too small? It's already slightly lose at the top and not tight at all. I don't think I could go up 2 sizes. In fairness the model isn't stood still facing a mirror!

The main difference with the picture (apart from the breeze and the setting!) is that you’ve done those front strings in a bow rather than loosely tied.

If you just tie them loosely like the pic, does that reduce the support?

SpottyAlpaca · 26/06/2026 21:42

You look great wearing that dress, OP. You have a lovely figure so no more uplift is needed. I only wish I could wear it as well as you!

Edited

Just personal preference I guess but for a hot weather dress I think stuff looks better when it just kind of hangs/drapes. It does look nice but it looks fitted rather than beachy ifyswim

Anonaonanon · 26/06/2026 21:53

@Punkindrublic I know what you mean. I think the model is flatter chested than me, so it hangs flatter. It's already quite big fitting so I definitely wouldn't size up, my boobs would fall out!

Just because I’m now eyeing this dress up based on your post… did you buy an XS or an S? I don’t think it looks too small at all. If there’s any bounce to boobs it would have to be tied tighter. Hence the bra dilemma I guess. 😅

lazyarse123 · 26/06/2026 22:25

I don't think you need a bra with that. It's a lovely dress. I couldn't wear it my nipples would be poking out of that bottom lace bit 😂j

330ml · 26/06/2026 22:26

No bra.

I have the xs, I read through the reviews and the consensus seemed to be that it's a larger fit. The back also has elastic around the waist part. It's a very comfortable dress.

I think I'm just going to go bra less!

You look great in it! What other colour are you going to get it in?

SliceofTosst · 27/06/2026 09:18

It looks lovely on you and so comfortable.

Mumto2at · 27/06/2026 10:12

Tit tape 100%

mags1862 · 27/06/2026 18:19

If your nipple makes a fleeting appearance in a hot country would not worry about it , mind I am happy to sit on a topless beach .

I'm really not sure! I like the teal/turquoise colour but wonder if it's a bit dark for summer. I do also like the pale pink and yellow 💛

This is kind of what I'm thinking. I probably wouldn't wear this dress at home (unless on a night out) but don't worry so much on holiday!

I think it looks fitted instead of floaty too tbh.

It’s a bit unfair really that they photograph it with such a different vibe to the reality.
