Where to shop for "chic" holiday outfits?

Going to a wedding abroad in a few weeks and most of the people there are very "chic" and glamorous so I'd like to make a bit more of an effort, rather than just a vest and grubby shorts 😅We are there for a week and the wedding outfit is sorted, it's mainly daytime outfits and evenings.

I feel completely overwhelmed trying to find things!

I am size 10-12, currently breastfeeding so ideally co-ords or skirts/shorts with nice tops.

What are some brands/places to look that people like?

I always relied on H&M, Zara etc in the past but they just seem a bit dull at the moment.

Screenshot images of looks that you like and then search them in SHEIN - it allows you to upload a photo to search.

On the other end of the scale, I like Free People.

I like The White Company

Cos and Uniqlo for me. And occasional Benetton, though delivery takes ages.

Keep to neutral colours, so navy, black, cream. Add gold jewellery and tan sandals.
dont show too much skin, so long wide leg trousers and a more fitted top. Maxi or midi dresses.

These?

I like the With Nothing Underneath shirts and shorts - they have cotton, linen and hemp options

Bravet · 24/06/2026 16:31

Would you wear this kind of look? I know some people prefer cotton to linen.

I agree with this. And avoiding bright or floral prints. Or maybe any prints!

How old are you?
Im 53.Size 10.I like Nobody's Child, & Other Stories, Uniqlo and M&S.I think chic depends on how you wear it .I tend to wear linen wide legged trousers, white ribbed vest top and gold jewellery (M&S), sleeveless white dresses (not on the big day) which have a waist (Nobody's child)and sandals, long plain strappy maxi/midi dresses (uniqlo or Zara), loose cotton pink or light blue striped shirt with shorts (Uniqlo). Metallic flat sandals and simple gold jewellery makes these outfits more stylish for me. This might all be completely wrong for you though:)

growinguptobreakingdown · 24/06/2026 16:42

Sorry you are breastfeeding. The strappy dresses won't work...shirt dresses with a tanbelt? I agree on neutral colours...navy, white, ecru.

I don’t actually agree with this advice (depending on location). If it’s a warm country I think neutrals can look dull and brights can look amazing. Depending on your colouring corals/reds/blues can look amazing. And brights and floral prints too! Look at Never fully dressed for some inspiration.

Nangula · 24/06/2026 16:55

I like The White Company and Me and Em for chic, understated styles that would work well in Southern Europe, California etc.

A linen shirt and chino shorts, or a sleeveless shirt and bias cut linen skirt would work well for breastfeeding. Or shirt dresses oof course.

Bravet · 24/06/2026 17:17

Would this work for breastfeeding? I don’t normally buy stuff from Hobbs but this shirt dress is surprisingly flattering and looks nicer on than on the model! There is a more cobalt blue too but I don’t know if that would show potential stains more.
